    Axminster AT254LTS OR AT254TS

I think there are some other differences. The pricier one has a more powerful motor. The smaller one also only has a wooden (coated) right hand extension rather than cast iron (with router table). I’ve recently bought the cheaper one and it works well for my needs.

"Maloof" finish compared to Danish oil

I’ve used truoil on some walnut rifle stocks and it produced a lovely glossy finish on those. It seemed quite hard wearing too (e.g in the pistol grip of the stock, although years of sweaty palms have dulled it somewhat) so I would think it might be a good choice for a saw handle.

Conspiracy nuts. (split from Re: How does this work?)

I don’t know the details (I only shoot prone target rifle) but historic black powder pistols are still permitted (I’ve had a go with some king of historic revolver at Bisley). You’re right about pistol shooting being hard though!

    Riveter

I built a kit car and pneumatic riveter was the best tool I bought. If you're doing a lot of riveting they're a god send.

Conspiracy nuts. (split from Re: How does this work?)

Bisley has been my second home for nearly 30 years (target rifle shooting - e.g. back to 1000 yards) and still is fun. A lot of fun! (Fortunately) I don't recall seeing SunnyBob in his shorts and holster, although it does remind me of a friend of mine who was ticked off by a range office for...

    Clever engineers

I thought that was great. At the other end of the scale, this also amazes me - drilling a hole down the length of a propelling pencil lead... YouTube link

    Raspberries

It depends what variety they are. If they are "Summer" raspberries, then you cut down the old wood and leave this year's growth - the fruit will come on those next year. However, if they're "Autumn" raspberries then you cut the whole lot down as they will throw up new canes next year and the...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

A large frame for a scoreboard (for the Guernsey Rifle Club). The scoreboard is a whiteboard style board on c.3mm aluminium. The frame is oak and there is a thin ply sheet which holds the scoreboard in and which is pinned to the frame. No hand tools I'm afraid. All made with table saw, P/T...

    The Finkum Plane

You guys are scraping the barrel with these jokes. The plane looks great. Fascinating project.

    Best British Cheeses

Tunworth is a lovely English camembert (made in a Hampshire village near me). It's also wonderful baked.

    Surfboard build WIP

As a surfer (only very occasional nowadays but used do a lot in my youth in Guernsey) I'm really enjoying reading about this project. Keep up the good work!

    Western red cedar

I can’t answer your question, but this sounds like a great project (I don’t very much nowadays but still regard myself as a surfer). Please keep us posted on progress with pictures! I hope someone comes along with an answer for you.

    3d printed 4-Way Clamp

Well done. That looks really good. I don't suppose you might be willing to share the design? Don't worry if not - it would make a good project for my 13 year old son who has recently got into 3D printing in a big way and is proving to be quite competent at it!

    Wood preservation

Thanks Mike Yes, I can't take the paneling off without trashing it. I think it's going to be case of doing the best I can and keeping it under careful watch. I'm hopefully the building will now be dry. Warmth will be more of a problem - it won't be heated - although it does at least now have...

    Wood preservation

Hi I’m planning to use an old stable as a workshop. The stable has some nice wood panelling on the walls some of which is in bad condition - woodworm, rot etc. I think this has been caused by previous damp (I’m hoping that will be vastly improved now that the building has a new slates and, for...

    Bog Oak The Jubilee Table

This reminds me of when I was recently trying to order some oak from an online retailer for a door I made. I couldn't figure out why the price was coming out at £250,000 until I realised all of the dimensions were in mm apart from the length which was metres. I think I was trying to order over...

    Baileigh Industrial TS-1040E-50 Cabinet saw

I think the other issue is whether you can even get hold of one of the Baileigh saws as they're out of stock. I haven't called them - does anyone have an ETA on a future batch? I'm in the process of getting power put into the room which will be my workshop, so I will probably start thinking...
