Allen screw removal from chuck jaw

You need to post up what size thread you're looking for, otherwise it is impossible to post a direct link. I just got some 10.9 M6 countersunk 12mm hex drive screws from the link chipmunk put up, they will fit my patriot chuck no problem.

    Grass trtee stump/root

I have turned one and have another left to do, it's a bit dusty, but I found it easy enough to work with.

Really nice design Paul, simple yet elegant.

    Beginner learning his tools

Not screw chucks Keith, look more like a faceplate of some sort. Not sure about the point in the centre, some kind of centering device perhaps? A screw chuck would have a 6mm or bigger wood screw type thread in the centre, usually with a parallel shaft (but not always, I have seen tapered ones...

Woodcraft Weekend at National Botanic Gardens, Wales

My biggest problem with any demos is distance, This weekend was great because it's only 40 miles away, I could easily commute each day, but most places that host event seem to be well outside of Wales, never mind Pembrokeshire, that means additional expense for travel etc, so while I am willing...

Nice one Gareth, it was great to meet you both and have a chat, I won't apologise for your spendthrift behaviour though, I'm sure you'll soon think of it as a great opportunity not passed up! :D

Woodcraft Weekend at National Botanic Gardens, Wales

Ah, I understand Derek, I did get the wrong end of that stick! I enjoyed meeting at least two other forum members anyway, Wayne and another guy who I seem to have persuaded to part with his cash, but although you told me your name, alas it has gone into whatever ether bad memory takes it! Still...

I can't believe you were there and never said who you were Derek! I would have been delighted to know. The High gloss is pretty resilient, you have to scratch it or ding it with something hard before it marks, so the bubble wrap is fine. So, which one were you then? Got a pic, I might at least...

Woodcraft Weekend at National Botanic Gardens, Wales

Ah nice one thanks Tudor. Shame you can't make it Chas, I was hoping we might get to meet up, some other venue maybe. It was absolutely treacherous this morning though, even black ice on the back road into the venue (sort of tradesman's entrance), cleared by late morning though.

Woodcraft Weekend at National Botanic Gardens, Wales

Really enjoyable first day, lots of turners visited the stand and asked about the coloured work and finishing, I coloured up two bowls with the help of three delightful children who also had a go, made a sale (always a plus!). Looking forward to day two tomorrow, if you're passing do say hello...
