    WIP - Stray Cat House

Nice looking cat house Bob. I love how rustic it looks. I made one for one of my Maine Coon cats who l-o-v-e-s lounging in cat baskets and paper bags etc. I built her a red barn and she loves hanging out in there.

my 1st proper attempt at a 'piece' - not too bad!

Not a bad effort at all, especially for a first attempt, well done. Personally, I think I'd either finish it in a high gloss yacht varnish or rub in some Danish oil. I'm sure the intended recipient will be thrilled to bits.

    Pinned/Pinless Blade Conversion

I've never used a pinned bladed saw so I'm sure what procedure you follow but for pinless saws you always clamp the bottom first then do all the adjustments at the top where you can see what you're doing. Might be worth giving it a whirl?

    Newbie questions thread.

If I can go OT for a moment Geoff, for those of us who have never tried to sell stuff at a craft show, would you be willing to start a thread and give us some hints and tips on what sells, what to avoid, quantities to made etc, etc. I'm sure a lot of us would find it very useful as long as we...

    Pinned/Pinless Blade Conversion

My saw is pinless as standard so I may not be able to help but I'll try. With my pinless saw I attach a blade clamp to a blade with a key then install the blade into the saw. That fixes the bottom. I then offer up the blade to the top clamp on the 'C' arm and tighten it onto the arm with the...

    Newbie questions thread.

Some really good comments there +1 chaps. James, do you mean that you gat a rapid 'slapping' sounds as you cut? If so you could also check that the blade matches the thickness of the wood? Before I got the Hegner I had a Delta scrollsaw and that thing was forever slapping wood. It used to...

    Here comes Santa Claus . . . .

Yep, got it in one toesy and your questions made perfect sense. The centre bit was cut at a 5 degree tilt so it drops in exactly and fits perfectly. By altering the slope of the table you can alter how far the centre bit sits inside the surround. The thickness of the wood will play a part in...
