    More Christmas ornaments

Just finished two more Christmas presents for family and friends. Both are Sue Mey designs and are approximately A4 (10" x 8") in size. I stack-cut each pattern with four pieces of 3mm ply and have managed to pinch one of each for us (hello 2, goodbye 6!!) before they get allocated to...

It's never to early to think about Christmas

Thank you for the kind comments, they are very much appreciated. A lot of the stuff that I've seen on Christmas Market stalls look to be laser-cut Andy . . . as far as patience goes, it's a nice place to cut but I also take lots of breaks ;-) 8squared - let us know what you're going to make...

"Nemo", a wiggling pull-along fish toy

Nice to see that Peter is enjoying his waggle fish. Thanks for that Andy. Slightly OT (sorry AES) - I don't know about other forum members but when I make something for a specific person I think about them while I'm making it. Things we may have done or things they may have said . . . it...

It's never to early to think about Christmas

Before I send the haunted house to my son I thought I'd make a few quick bats to go with them. I downloaded a Steve Good pattern and spent a couple of hours this morning making the bats below. I stack-cut 3 x 3mm pieces of ply and for two cuts produced six bats. They're actually white ply but...

It's never to early to think about Christmas

Thanks Stooby. The snow globes were stack-cut so for each one that I cut - I got several - so the time to cut each pattern is greatly reduced. I cut 6 pieces of 1.5mm ply, about 4" (100mm) square and bound them tightly with masking tape. I then stuck on the pattern which I had printed onto a...

It's never to early to think about Christmas

Thanks Brian. I have a big illuminated magnifying glass which helps me with the cutting and yes it was fiddly. It must be great living in a house like that ;-) Barry

It's never to early to think about Christmas

Having submitted some pictures a while ago showing my shiny new workshop, and thank you to everyone for the lovely comments, I thought I'd better show you that I haven't been spending ALL my time out there sitting down and drinking German beer  This is a Halloween present which I'll be...

Back to my usual motorbike stuff

Thanks for 'The Works' info Martin. They look to have lots of interesting stuff at good prices and I've passed the link on to my wife to see how the prices compare with her usual suppliers (she does lots of card making). Up until now I've been robbing my wife's stash of card for my projects...

Back to my usual motorbike stuff

Very nice Martin and worthy of the praise. I like the black 'inlay' as it makes it look more sinister. Well done - tick ;-)

Yeah I saw it briefly mentioned on the news - very sad. Also sorry for going off topic. Barry

"Nemo", a wiggling pull-along fish toy

You could make them out of some 3/4" pine from the likes of B&Q. There must be several pull-a-long toy plans kicking around on the internet and if you decide to make more than one it might pay to make a cardboard/thin-ply template out of the various pieces so for future repeat jobs you just...

"Nemo", a wiggling pull-along fish toy

Too right, you lucky blighter. I hate painting but sometimes it has to be done :-( You certainly know how to tease a guy  A few weeks ago we took our motorhome and spent a fabulous couple of days at the museums at Speyer and Sinsheim http://www.technik-museum.de/en/splashpage.html -...

"Nemo", a wiggling pull-along fish toy

It's all good fun though Andy. Its a good looking project that was fun to make and will bring hours of joy to the birthday boy. It made a change from more challenging work AND you got someone else to do the painting . . . ticks right across the board from me :-)

Help with cutting small lettering please

I have to say that cutting out letters/words is the most difficult thing I've ever scrolled. I've found that it doesn't really matter where I start as it's the shape of the letter which seems to dictate how I cut it out. When cutting out a shape, if you wander off the line a bit it doesn't...
