    Little victories :)

That's nice to hear Steve - little things can hold enormous value.

    For Vann

There's never any such thing as just a nerd  . Nerds always self organise according to various taxonomies that are largely indistinguishable to the outside world. For example, to the general public we'd all be lumped into the catch-all taxonomy of 'Shed folk', within that there are 'Wood...

Ways to chemically dissolve waterstones to a pulp?

This sounds like a good, safe, approach to try which avoids introducing unnecessary chemicals into your sharpening slurry. Natural freeze/thaw cycles are pretty effective at weathering our local Ham stone (limestone), as evidenced by the deposits of yellow sand on the pavements. The greater the...

    Audiobook recommendations.

It sounds like you're after factual rather than fiction, but a few years ago I went through a number of the Jack Aubrey/Stephen Maturin novels by Patrick O-Brian (of Master & Commander fame). I listened to the unabridged versions and found them excellent, but I remember finding one...

    Password Managers

Like Seagoon, I also use Lastpass which doesn't deal with the partial/random entry fields, I use the secure note feature to store those.

Very funny! =D> =D> =D> I saw this last night and thought we were going to have to call for the nurse. Are you a cryptic cruciverbalist by any chance?

    Wood weevil

Mignal's correct about making the environment as inhospitable as possible for the pests, you might also want to look into one of the companies that will sell you a multi-tiered treatment. The idea with these is that you use aerosol for quick knock down, and then spray or powder for lasting...

It's good to see you've gone digital but where do you buy your fingers? Is this even legal?

    Aaarrrggggghhhhhh!!!!

Well Frank, I feel for you. I had a run-in with a haarskeerder/camel spider (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solifugae) in my tent while camping in South Africa. In case you're not familiar with them the camel spider is a big ugly brute, ~10cm across and can sprint at 10mph. They are however...

    Mac Freezing on internet

Well he'll be 'disappeared' for attitude adjustment then. Well done on staying with it and getting it sorted, these problems can make it all too attractive to use the lump-hammer reset as developed by RogerS.

    Roger Lloyd Pack - RIP

His socially awkward farmer in VofD was fantastic - cringe inducing comedy at its best. He had a gift for portraying ridiculous characters that were still almost recognisable as people you know.

    Wood weevil

The stuff I used is "Insectaclear Power Fogger", marketed by http://www.lodi-uk.com, can't remember where I bought it, but it's the one that's listed here: http://www.pestcontroldirect.co.uk/acat ... GER12.html It doesn't explicitly state that it's suitable for use against wood weevils (I had it...

    Wood weevil

I've had success by making a polythene tent around my timber pile and using an aerosol 'bug bomb' in the middle of it. Compared to spraying it seemed the lesser of two weevils. Mine was only a minor infestation and it sorted it with no re-occurrence.

How you going Dave? The immortal Trigger - one of my favourite comedy memories is "Trigger's Broom": Trigger has just been presented with an award for saving the council money. Trigger: And that's what I've done. Maintained it for 20 years. This old brooms had 17 new heads and 14 new handles...
