    Incra Wonderfence

Tony I did consider the wonderfence but like Neil (and based on his efforts) I knocked something up which for me works just as well. Dust extraction was my main concern. But it's easy to achieve offsets, zero tolerance and tall fences with some spare MDF and a few shims. Cheers Gidon

    Playhouse - WIP - FINISHED!

Been some progress - I'm getting there and at least my eager children can now stamp around in it! Where I left of ... Roof sections and ridge pole (?) finished. Made a right meal of cutting out the triangular section for that! Cladding with the tongue pointing upwards ... Very happy that my...

    featherboard. Looking for UK sources

Yes I have some of those bench dog feather boards. They are great - I have many many homemade ones but since getting the bench dogs I always try and reach for one of these first. And I got them from Rutlands. I use them on the router table though mainly. Cheers Gidon

    Door weather sealing assistance required.....please

Hi Mark Not sure I've read your post closely enough but perhaps my efforts sealing my front door will help? https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8247 https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9223 Cheers Gidon

    Rutlands parallel jaw clamps

Ditto pretty much what Jim says. Also the Uni-klamps don't go bigger than 600mm I don't think. Their lighter weight is generally an advantage to me. Cheers Gidon

Taunton (and other) woodworking books £1 at B&Q!

Not sure if avaialable at all B&Q's - and mine only had limited stock left. But books on offer for a £1 include the well acclaimed "Bandsaw Book" by Lonnie Bird. I already have it and it's a useful book if you own a bandsaw. May interest some of you. Cheers Gidon

    DRO Digital readout for planer/thicknessers

Mike - I looked at both types and for the small difference in price it's a no brainer - the Wixey has several additional features that are really useful. Being able to set the actual thickness of the thicknesser before you switch it on is very useful - the basic height read outs aren't designed...

Ikea kitchens - any good? And fitting your own kitchen tips?

Thanks - not what I want to hear but really appreciate everyone's thoughts. At least if we do go ahead with Ikea we'll go in with eyes wide open. Pete - we're going to pay for home delivery on the whole lot - £150 I think - that is if we go ahead! Were meant to be going up today but didn't work...

    DRO Digital readout for planer/thicknessers

Philly - my Wixey one doesn't lose the calibration reading? Only when it runs out of batteries - not switching it off - which it hasn't yet. You calibrate it once and then I'd say it's accurate to around 0.1mm. Cheers Gidon

    DRO Digital readout for planer/thicknessers

Hi Mike Yes - I have on my Scheppach HMS260 - see this thread: https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/view ... hp?t=12408 It's superb - makes the thicknesser a dream to use. Just set the thickness you want the wood cut to and that's it. I would imagine there'll be some way to attach it to your...

Ikea kitchens - any good? And fitting your own kitchen tips?

Well we've pretty much chosen the black Numerar (square edge) which looks ok. Don't like the silver edge but have been told we can change that. Yes very very cheap! Haven't you got an even further journey to Ikea? Is it Bluewater? How did you do the ordering / delivery? Did it work out ok...

Ikea kitchens - any good? And fitting your own kitchen tips?

Many thanks Pete - that's more encouraging! I looked through all the Screwfix posts too - thanks Jason. It'll mean a lot of rethinking to not go with Ikea now. My wife was horrified when I fed back the comments! I will be getting the sink and appliances from them and the worktop (what's wrong...

Ikea kitchens - any good? And fitting your own kitchen tips?

Wow - thanks some great advice. Nice kitchen Argee - can you come and do mine ;)! I think I can cope with the lack of service void - I can build some false backs on the cabinets where plumbing needs to run through - and as Pete says the extra depth should be handy. I'm worried about the straight...
