UKWorkshop getting on the YouTube bandwagon?

Brilliant Steve! And great video too. One thing - apart from for cutting offset cheeks, is there any advantage of this design and the FWW you show where the two cheek cuts are adjusted independently, over just rotating the piece to cut the other cheek? Cheers Gidon

    CA Glue

I can also recommend 5 star for the quality of their glue, but wasn't very impressed with the bottles / packaging they came in - all 3 bottles I ordered had some damage to them. All came on different orders! I've also found this Bondloc stuffpretty good - and cheap! You only have to spend £10...

    shed design

Sorry to but in on this thread but have two questions if I may: 1. What's the purpose of the the paper? 2. Mike - when you say build up on a 6" brick plinth on a concrete base. Would the floor not then be wooden running on joists laying the this brick plinth. Sorry don't quite get it? Thanks...

Setting the angle for grinding a chisel

You set the middle of the guide's bevel on the edge of the stone. As BW says the exact angle isn't so important but this will get you close enough. If you want to check the angle you could make a little guide with angles notched out and then check the bevel in these notches - the Tormek comes...

Setting the angle for grinding a chisel

I use a very sophisticated piece of MDF with a 25 deg cut on the end! See about 40s into my vid here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3Hm4HiN2Lww Cheers Gidon

    Wedged through tenon

I'm not sure if you use wedges inside the tenon (not at the sides) you need to splay the mortise. You could easily end up splitting the tenon. And there's going to be guesswork to get it right. Plus this joint would be used more decoratively than structurally surely. This joint does have the...

    sharpening technique

Chris I have a few videos on Youtube demonstrating some sharpening techniques (see this thread for background to videos) you may or may not find useful (can also be found in Videossection of site). The second link may be of most help to you but you may get some tips from the other links too...

Investment! Veritas LA Jacks gain 78% since '07

Wow - not followed the prices - had to check you hadn't made a mistake - and you're right my LA Jack is £100 more than when I bought it only a couple of years ago! And BB it wasn't on special offer that I recall. Cheers Gidon

Scanner for 35mm film - any experience?

Tony If you want to go the scanner route for fun then I can understand perfectly, but if you're thinking of it as a cheaper / better option I would not bother and go with a DSLR. Even the cheapest DSLR will give you way better results then a cheap scanner. Have a look at an image from a Canon...

    Storage Shed - WIP **FINISHED!**

Well not as much progress as I'd hope but getting there ... Cladding pretty much done: Added ladder frame for overhang: OSB boards cut and fixed: This last stage took me a full day! Hard going on your own. Plus overkill using 3/4" OSB - 1/2" I'm sure would have been fine - and easier to...

For those that missed it a few weeks ago.

I quite liked Tommy's Ultimate Workshop too - gave me some useful tips. But he is a bit irritating in it unfortunately. Cheers Gidon

Roy Also more details here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/steve.mask ... et_jig.htm - very good Steve! Ian Dalziel also did a pocket hole jig a few years back IIRC also in Good Woodworking too. I have that issue I think if you want it? Cheers Gidon

    Digitalizing My Thicknesser

Alan Here you go: Attached to my Scheppach HMS260: Frame is attached to some alu angle iron and a hole is tapped in the rod that attaches to the original pointer: In the end I tapped some holes to attach the readout (stationary). Make sure the bolts don't come through the other side...

Quite surprised! I thought most of you would have them in the workshop! Does make sense though. Cheers Gidon
