flattening the sole of a bench plane

Just a note to say that when using abrasive paper on a granite /float glass surface I use a 50/50 mix of car window wash fluid and water as a lubricant. This enables the grit to cut better without clogging and speeds up the entire process. Cheers Aldel :D

    T-track (Lee Valley..?)

Success at last!!! Thanks to Deedee I have now had a long chat with Roger Phebey of http://www.woodworkersworkshop.co.uk/ who has a very close business relationship with Woodpecker and Incra amongst others and is able to supply most if not all of their stock at very reasonable prices. Of course...

    T-track (Lee Valley..?)

Tony, Although Axminster list T track (t slot) they have not had and will not have any in stock for some time. Rutlands do stock some at £14.95 plus £4.95 for each bolt kit. They only appear to stock Incra t track plus at £19.95. Neither stock any of the multitude of fixings to go with the...

    T-track (Lee Valley..?)

Losos, I would be pleased to see any quoted prices as I have tried from various American stockists and have been given the ridiculous price of £60 by UPS for delivery. Plus you will have to run the gauntlet of import and VA Taxes. I cannot understand why it cannot be obtained here at a sensible...

    T-track (Lee Valley..?)

Please forgive me but this is a rather cheeky request directed at Rob Lee of LeeValley. In the UK I have found it impossible to find a supplier of T-track (t slot channel) Axminster list it but have none in stock. Rutlands sell some Incra but at many times the USA price. I have discovered that...

    BT broadband upgrades

BT have just upped my broadband to 2.2gig and I have not noticed any real difference in speed. They have now capped me at 30gig per month and this is going to cause me real problems. Their capping does not apply to just download traffic but to total traffic i.e. up and down!! Running a website...

    New Ratter for the Club

Philly, I thought that you may come a visitin' some time soon. Is that why my hits took a little jump? I hope that you found a few things of interest on my site although most of the info is aimed at the Big 'Rat user. Once you have owned a woodrat you will find that you use for all sorts of...

    Normisms

Is it just me or is anyone else irritated by certain words made up by big Norm Abram that have started to appear on both sides of the pond? One of these is "draw" instead of "drawer" as in chest of drawers or a single drawer. I am assured that the correct spelling and pronunciation both here...

    WoodRat Jigs

Over a period of several weeks I have received quite a number of emails requesting information on work holding methods and plans for the 'Rat. Even the updated manual gives very little in the way of measurements for jigs etc and it can be very frustrating for new owners to work out the best way...

    ARKANSAS BENCHSTONES

Geppetto, I have currundum, ceramic, diamond and waterstones and can honestly say that that although sometimes better than silicon carbide paper it is very questionable if they are really worth all that extra money. If you are on a budget then I believe that you cannot beat emery paper on sheet...

    Sliding track

Incra sell the perfect answer (T-Track) in the States at ridiculously cheap prices e.g. 6$ for a 24" length. Why can't we buy it here? http://www.woodpeck.com/incrattrack.html Aldel

    Sliding track

Has anyone found a source of captive sliding mitre track at a reasonable price? Axminster sell some but it is too big, clumsy and expensive. Ideally I require some about 1/4" to 3/8" deep by about 1/2" wide for making up adjustable work holding jigs. I have been advised that yacht chandlers may...

    Broadband ISP recommendations sought

I have been with BT broadband for some time now with no problems. 1.1mbps £30/month 30gig/month capping, 50gig webspace antivirus mail etc. Check very carefully other offers with regard to hidden traps in particular the allowed traffic per month (capping). The only other company that I would...
