    Methods of Work

Philly, I think there is a clear divide between woodwork for a living and as a hobby. As a profession, time is money and things need to be planned and completed in the most cost effective way. This generally means the criteria are the quickest and simplest way commensurate with the quality of...

    Woodrat through dovetail problem

    rust removal

I never allow WD40 (yuck, terrible stuff!) anywhere near the workshop. It does ,I believe, contain silicones and that is the last thing you want on wood. Use Duck oil or 3in1. I have found the water dispersal properties of DW40 makes water bead up and and so leaves circular rust pits when it...

    Everything went wrong.

Sorry Tony, I used a Rat and a Leigh Jig. At risk of provoking a fight between the pro's and anti's I find both excellent. I no longer have all the Leigh templates purely because I could not warrant keeping them all. A few years ago I was commisioned to make some sales presentation boxes for a...

    2500 Wet'N'Dry

Philly, yes it does. Keep it off your fingers as much as possible. I believe it contains a very small amount of methanol as an anti-freeze agent. I also use it on my diamond and ceramic stones. Aldel

Well this forum has now reached over 800 members and so it must have something special for it to be so successful, in fact I think I may be becoming addicted. I believe that extra special thanks must go to Charley for hosting free of charge and especially to Ali (Alf the link master and...
