    B&D KW715 Electric Hand Planer

Does anyone know where I can get a manual for it? I've searched online but just run into dead-ends. (hammer) Specifically: - how to change the blades - how to adjust the cutting depth There is a depth knob but when I turn it the blades don't seem to raise or lower. Thanks, Andy

SIP P/T Infeed Not Parallel to Outfeed

I might try epoxying it, but rather perversely with the support removed the infeed table is now parallel to the outfeed table! So maybe I can continue to use it if I am careful. Andy

SIP P/T Infeed Not Parallel to Outfeed

The cause of this: one of the four supports for the infeed table was badly fractured and now hanging and a downward angle. Every movement of the table from 0 to 3mm caused it to drag.

SIP P/T Infeed Not Parallel to Outfeed

OK, I know these machines have problems, but I got it for free and it's only been used a couple of times. If I try to plane an edge of a piece of MDF it is either convex or not at right angles to the other edges. When I put a straightedge on the outfeed and infeed tables I see the infeed slopes...

    DRO for SIP P/T?

I have been given a SIP 8x4 P/T 01483 - the type where the bed moves to the knives. Is it possible to get or modify a DRO for one of these suckers? I emailed Wixey a couple of weeks ago but no response. :( Thanks! Andy

    Combining Veneers with Solid Wood

Thanks for all the replies. I'm currently setting up my workshop and this is my goal, not starting point. I'm trying to work out the tools needed and the stepping-stone projects to get me to my goal. I'm not finding it very easy. Andy - I really like the way you did the shelves - veneered wood...

    Combining Veneers with Solid Wood

Hi, sorry for the beginner question... I would like to make a Mahogany bookcase. It will be quite large (floor to ceiling). My thinking was to use plywood for the carcass with Mahogany veneer then solid pieces of reclaimed Mahogany for the rails, stiles, moulding and corbels on the front. Do I...

    Making Corbels

Thanks for the responses. I am planning on turning a room into a Victorian library so these would be at the top of each bookcase section. No idea how many - perhaps 10 or 15 are needed. I have no problem buying corbels but I would like to make the bookcases out of Oak or reclaimed Mahogany. I...

    Making Corbels

I quite like the corbel shown below. What steps would be involved in making something like that? My guess (and I'm new to woodworking): Bandsaw for the general profile Bandsaw for the bottom shaping Routed bead across the middle Rosette cutter for the bottom design feature What about the three...

Electric Guitar - How To ?

Stupid question - do you need to be able to play guitars in order to make good guitars? Playing has no interest for me, but woodworking and electronics has a lot of interest. :D Andy

    A0 Architect's Chest

Hi, thanks for replying. All the simpler plans for chests of drawers I've managed to find so far use dados to join the sides of the drawers together. I don't have a router yet. If you could point me to some ultra-simple plans that I could adapt then I would really appreciate it. :) Andy

    A0 Architect's Chest

Thanks for all the replies. I just bid and lost on a A0 10-drawer on ebay - went for £310. With delivery that would have ended up as £360. On top of that it was painted so would need stripping and refinishing. I think I have nowhere near the type of tools I need to make one so I will keep this...

    A0 Architect's Chest

Hello, newbie to here and woodworking. For Christmas I would like to build my wife an A0-sized architect's plan/blueprint chest for her craft area. Does anyone know where I can get plans for something like that? Generally she needs large, shallow drawers. I have a SCMS, workbench, drill, some...
