    Electric vehicles - again

I agree with Richard C and Fergie 307. Fine to use Public Transport in Cities but even towns don't have sufficient buses though cycling is more of an option in smaller places. However, many people now don't live next to their work place as they used to probably till the 1960s when we cleaned...

    Joke thread

Reminds me of the old joke:- There are 3 kinds of Accountants ( Or QSs if you are in the building line) Those who can add up And those who can't. Needless to say, this usually goes well over the head of Accountants! Phi

    Time for a rebrand ?

I remember my father telling me of Woolworths before the war which was advertised as a 3d & 6d shop. Many of the more expensive items then started to appear in two parts at 6d each!! So nothing new with Poundland doing the same!! Phil

    Since when do we.....

It's not just taps, what about door handles! 2 of our doors open when you turn the handle towards the immediate door frame (clockwise), the rest when you turn the other way which is more logical as it is anti-clockwise!! Work that one out! Phil

    Joke thread

True Story. My family and I were driving along the road near Skibbereen in County Cork when I said to my wife 'there's a car following us, has been for a while'. Never mind she says, pull in at the next pub, I need the loo anyway. Duly did this, the car pulled up next to us and a man got out...

    Britain's Best Woodworker

I think you have the whole point here Corset. This is a program to make people interested enough to take the first tentative steps NOT a program for the experienced woodworker. BTW HamsterJam, have you not seen YouTube videos of equally hair raising turning practices; I certainly have! Phil

    Workshop gloves......

I usually get gloves off the local market. There is one stall that has exclusively garden and workshop stuff plus another that has PPE and similar items inc 'surgical' gloves so I'm spoilt for choice! Phil

    What do you collect

Books, just paperbacks, generally historical works by people such as Bernard Cornwall, Lindsey Davies etc. Lockdown has had a bad effect, there are too many village book swaps springing up! I'm trying not to add to my Sharpe collection!! Also, a gift from my Gramps, Stamps, particularly GB...

New woodworking TV show on BBC2

It's not made for woodworkers as it is on a national TV station so don't complain! However, if it sparks some interest in woodworking for even half a dozen people, it is worth while Phil
