    Nail Guns

Jake, are the masonry nails ok in nailing wood to wood, as in nailing skirtings to studs etc? Also do you know what gauge nails the Axminster masonry nailer takes as it doesen't seem to be listed on their web site?

    Hello/Triton opinions

I get very little vibration with the WC2000, set up with the Triton saw. The saw mount is very stable and the saw itself is so powerful that it has cut easily through anything I have thrown at it. Bevel cuts are more difficult. Firstly, because the stock is tilted rather than the saw you can...

    Compressors and air-tools - a few questions.....

If I was to use an in-line oiler at the compressor end of the line, would that not contaminate the whole airline? Presumably I would then need a "clean" air line to use with my spray gun? My brad nailer doesn't get heavy or frequent use at the moment so I think I will stick to putting a drop of...

    Dalbergia is rosewood IIRC.

    A little something

As a scientist, it looks like a test tube rack, but I would guess it is a game of some sort.

    Hello/Triton opinions

The big Triton saw is a bit of a monster to use hand-held. I keep mine in the table and have a smaller Makita to use hand held. Even in table saw mode these things can bite though. I needed 5 stitches in my thumb last year after an accident while developing a prototype for my cross-cut sled that...

    Another new member

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum. What kind of projects do you have in mind? Once that is decided it is much easier to decide on tools and machinery. There's lots of friendly advice to be had here, no question too dumb.

    Hello/Triton opinions

You should probably add the optional wheel kit to your shopping list, it's not expensive at about £16. The wheels go on the legs at one end and can be folded up out of the way to level the workcentre.

    Hello/Triton opinions

I bought the Maxi extension/sliding table which gives huge cross-cut and rip capacity and you can easily handle a sheet of 8x4 ply.....if you have the space. I find it much easier and more convenient to use my smaller Makita hand-held circular saw and sawboard to roughly (or in fact very...

    Hello/Triton opinions

I have a Triton Workcentre 2000 and I like it a lot. It is capable of very accurate work, with a rock-steady fence. It can operate in table saw and cross-cut mode so that it effectively doubles as a small radial arm saw. That sounds good but if you fit the dust collection kit it is a pain to...

    You lucky, lucky......

Hi Cerbie and welcome to the forum. If you stick around and read a few more posts you will soon realise that here in the UK we tend to look enviously at the lower prices paid by our cousins across the atlantic and share the same sort of feelings you have. I guess it has a lot to do with the size...

Unfortunately Alf, a lot of the links on that page are dead. Bugbear's web site also has some very good links.

    Handcutting Dovetails - A Question.

I can certainly see the possibility of Mr Cockup coming to visit if I have two different angles. Do you use 1:7 for all your dovetails?

    Handcutting Dovetails - A Question.

Alf, does your perspex template have the same angle on both edges ie both at 1:6 or 1:8 or whatever? I have some spare perspex that I might have a go with and I was wondering whether to make two or just one but with different angles on each edge.

Tea Trolly - Finished at last - WIP pics added

I can't see the picture with my regular browser (Firefox) but I can with IE6. Nice trolley, by the way. My mum still uses the trolley I made for my Higher Woodwork project at school 35 years ago. I hope your mum gets many years of use and pleasure from your trolley.

    thicknesser / planer

Hi, and welcome to the forum. Big planers tend to cost big bucks so I would go with Adam's suggestion. If you alternate the direction of the growth rings when you glue up the panels they will be much more stable and less likely to cup in the future.

You need to put in number followed by a space then the fraction followed immediately by a minus sign (-) followed by the second number and fraction as before. The answer is decimal though (5.78125) which is 5 25/32.

    Which Jigsaw to buy?

There have been several threads recently on guide rails and home made sawboards...try a quick search. Even a cheap and cheerful home made sawboard will turn a hand-held circular saw into a precision instrument.
