    whats a good but cheap practise wood?

    Was using stuff from b &q but as it is pine, works ok but thin cuts mean it is very brittle and even a small drop can crack and break down the grain. Still practising (though not done anything for a few weeks) but wondering what others use?

    That's what I do, blue tape, cover it, glue on pattern, there you go. Also what I have done is tape a plank, then just cut to size, retake the bare edges, glue, cut. Also the benefit of the tape method is if you print and get to almost cut then notice a problem you can just take the pattern...

    scrolling with MDF

    quick one, i recall MDF being a right messy sod when cutting, so what is it like using it for scrolling? i have a few large sheets i could use to play with (think 7mm or so) but dont want to be covered in mdf if it produces a lot of dust! ta

    my 1st proper attempt at a 'piece' - not too bad!

    AAANDDD it got dropped when gluing up and the V fell off.... but was a clean break so gluing back on so shouldn't be noticable, but if it is, an excuse to make another :)
