    Bargain forstner bits

There is a 51mm forstner in the pack, maybe it was simply stamped up wrong? Can you compare the two as in mine the 54 isnoticably larger.

    Bargain forstner bits

I have just checked mine, a few months old, and all about the size marked, using an old measurer but all OK. I have found it stalls easy on damp wood, even with different speeds, but this I expect is normal and out of expected usage. If I needed a specific size for a lot of use then I'm would...

    small workspaces, show me yours!

As title... I am moving house hopefully soon and have a small outhouse to myself. However it isn't massive, but brick built and dry. Also as it is away from the house should be able to get decent extraction and noise away from anyone! Currently in a cellar that is shared storage, so good for...

split wood, whats the cause? too quick drying?

BugBear - was off a cut tree, about 2-3 weeks cut before i acquired it Nev - Pah, not waiting that long, it isnt anything special so not that concerned, will just tell whomever receives it that it is a ;feature' of how the item was produced :)

split wood, whats the cause? too quick drying?

hi all, quick question. Made a tealight holder from a branch, and after a few days inside it has got wood splits in it. Now not too fussed, but just curious, was it drying on the radiator or just what some wood does?

Drilling into wood(damp?) & getting poor quality holes

Think i know the reason, but just checking. Drilling into wood, end grain (that i suspect isn't totally dry) and instead of getting a clean cut (with both a normal bit and a spade bit) it is rough on the inside and 'fibrous'. So i am assuming this is because it is end grain, and also that it...

Maybe not for a first timer though on a thin blade. I had similar but wondered why it wasn't fitting easily then realised.

Inspire me : Lots of recently felled tree bits salvaged!

Noggsy-thanks for the offer but it is a good excuse to add to the tool pile I use a couple of times :-D Nigel - thanks. Will be liking in IKEA for the glass holders, and may go from there. I did a fire test, it had Danish oil on (I think, can't recall the name) and held a flame to it, over 15...

    Fitting Rexon Profiline SS16SA blade

are you hooking/attaching it to the parallel fitting? my Axminster one has fittings to put the blade face on, or sideways (pinned) so you have better clearance, so are you putting it in the same slots, ie both the facing or both the side, and not using the facing at one end, but the side one at...

    Delivery Charges

I only use RM for small items, and interprcels own service for big ones (they use ups). Hermes\etc are just useless. I had a phone that didn't arrive, and multiple calls found that they could not deliver till tomorrow, the courier (old lady in a batters fiesta) was "the other side of runcorn"...

Inspire me : Lots of recently felled tree bits salvaged!

Legally stalemate ;) i didn't trespass to obtain, it was on a public path and the work that was being done has long since been completed, therefore abandoned, i was just removing it to stop someone tripping over them as the contractors failed to clear them appropriately ;) However if i did...

Inspire me : Lots of recently felled tree bits salvaged!

Hi all, recently there has been a lot of felled trees for an upcoming new bridge, and as a result the place looks bare :( anyhow, as the weather was nice i took a walk and found a lot of wood that has not been chipped and just left (the area was cut a few weeks ago), and as it was healthy (ie...

    Pink Floyd - The Wall

The film has it as red, and sure googling showed other reds, mainly to match the hammers, but tbh any bright colour will do. Be easy to test, just hold it over different colours till one shows it up good. Black background looks good but for this sort of thing may suit something slightly...

    Pink Floyd - The Wall

Colours... Red or black, match the album cover or the film logo. Or pop art style. Flat white board, then flick different bright colours onto it. Not much see through to need painting but may be easy and different. Or thick clear perspex, depending on the location would be slightly backlit...
