    Sold Carving Gouges

Mine are flat tbh, I just work them round the gouge curve, saves having to have different strops for different gouges, and I might be a bit lazy ! ;) :)

    Sold Carving Gouges

Just a leather strop on a board Rob, with some blue or gold compound, and a wooden dowel rubbed with the compound to very lightly take off any burr on the inside edge afterwards. If I thought they needed more of a refresh then I'd use fine wet and dry paper on a board and give them a few strokes...

    Sold Carving Gouges

SOLD Couple of woodcarving gouges for sale as a pair, both in very good and sharp condition, but see note below. The Ashley Isles is a number 7 sweep and approximately 17mm wide. The brass ferrule is partially split, as they are prone to do and as shown in the pictures, but makes no difference...

    Fallen tree

Not sure the 6" thick rings would be good for much other than firewood though ? By the time you start getting drying splits in the end grain on each side I doubt there would be much usable material, other than for very small things ?

    Walnut tree

Before getting too excited about the tree's potential it would be worth cross cutting near the base and having a look to see how much, if any, dark coloured heartwood it contains. Forty years old isn't that mature and it may contain little or none which would be disappointing if you've spent...

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

Doesn't reduce power consumption but a useful gadget to make use of power tool batteries you already have, especially in any power cuts, available for most brands of batteries, clips on and adds a couple of usb slots and an led light to the battery.

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

I've owned and used makita, metabo and currently blue bosch ranges, including the impact drivers, and no surprise that they are all very good indeed ! I switched from makita to bosch a few years ago as at the time makita seemed to be having some battery issues and the bosch range looked a...
