    Pen Blanks ?

I'm tidying up some of my smaller bits of wood around the workshop that I'm unlikely to use for turning myself and a lot of it is going for kindling on the fire  Occurred to me that, although I don't do pen turning myself (have done a few but not really my thing), some of the stuff is...

    tormek t3 not sharpening square

That indeed is all it is Jimi ! However, it's high quality, robust and accurate with a well made repeatable jig and table indexing system, so a world apart from a cheapie linisher, though they have their uses too ! Cheers, Paul

    Rolly Munro Masterclass

I've met Rolly a couple of times, once at Yandles a few years ago and again at The Toolpost I think, lovely guy, couldn't be more helpful and easy to get on with, and not bad at woodturning either  Cheers, Paul

    Pocket knife - recommendations

Perhaps you're putting too acute an edge on ? Might be worth trying a less steep angle or convexing the edge ? Mine don't blunt more easily than any other knives that I have, except for some of the more exotic steel blades like a wee Fallkniven folder (TK4) that has a blade of 3G powdered steel...

    Pocket knife - recommendations

On the contrary, they take a wickedly sharp edge very easily indeed, perhaps you're doing it wrong ! :) Cheers, Paul

    Pocket knife - recommendations

The Trevor Ablett knives are generally thought of as "working" knives rather than high quality pieces, functional but may be a bit hit or miss on quality and fit and finish. Taylors Eye Witness are generally a bit better but can still dissapoint on occasion, but plenty of different makes and...

    buying a bandsaw

He's got two recent negative feedbacks for non-delivery/disputes, so do give the machine a good look over and try it running and cutting under load to avoid any surprises ! If it works fine then it's a good machine at a good price :) Cheers, Paul

    Router Table Build

Home made feather boards are easy to make and just as effective as mentioned. I've also never found a need for installing a track on mine, instead I use small home made sleds if necessary sliding against the fence (so no need to mess around trying to ensure the fence is parallel to the track...

Novice - skew chisel advice please

Also not a good idea Colin ! The roughing gouge takes too big a "bite" to use safely on a bowl blank, as well as having a short tang that is not strong enough to use like this and could bend or break when you get a catch. You would be safer, and likely enjoy it more, if you you went along to a...
