It's been around for a few years I think Rod, only Stihl's policy, not a general health and safety requirement or anything. Might not affect electric tools though as they are just plug and go ? Cheers, Paul

Might be worth calling them to ask if they deliver on the qt though ? Could be that publicly they have to be seen to toe the stihl collection only line but know full well it will lose them business and may be willing to deliver in the background ? Probably a long shot but a quick call would find...

    Mad4Mowers

Your dealer's advice is my experience also in the last year or two Mark. I had the line strimmer attachment and for £25 or so bought the bits and pieces and brushcutter blade and swapped it over in place of the line strimmer spool, works a treat and easy to do :) Cheers, Paul

Yes, loop handle Mark, not ideal if doing a lot of strimming or brushcutting but not a major problem for the odd half hour or hour here or there, and as you say allows all the other uses where the handlebars would get in the way. Cheers, Paul

The kombi gear is great, top notch as usual for Stihl. I got a power unit and long reach hedge trimmer attachment initially and then added an extension pole to make it even longer (!), strimmer, cultivator, and brush (yep, really, surprisingly useful !) later as needed. If I hadn't already got...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

Interested to see how you go about slotting the fence panels in Steve. I had to replace one for my mum in law a while ago and it was a bit of fun ! I guess with a few to do I would have given it some more thought and made a jig or some kind of rig or something to help ! Cheers, Paul

    need a toolbox, suggestions?

I got a couple of these to put my woodturning kit, tools and chucks etc into storage for a while http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-FatMax- ... y+tool+box Good, solid, well made gear, can't fault them, chuck a vci pot in if worried about rust/condensation and good to go...

    E85 'petrol'

After having a chainsaw with fuel line and seals problems I switched to using Aspen fuel in those and hedge cutters, strimmers, blowers etc as I don't use vast quantities. The price difference is eye watering though, the Aspen round here sells for something around £19 for a gallon or 5 litre...

How large a hard drive do I need ?

Thanks for the utube link, got rid of another 5 gb ! And now WinDirStat and Windows Explorer both show 87 gb used and the rest free :D So I guess must have been the system restore points and other stuff like that ? Great, so now confident I can get by on a 256 gb ssd drive with no issues...

How large a hard drive do I need ?

No formatting going to happen here ! :) How would I post a screenshot up on here of the WinDirStat results ? As mentioned, it shows and confirms what I had figured out, that there is around 80 gb of disk space used, yet when I change the option on that same programme and results to display...

How large a hard drive do I need ?

Hmm, disk cleanup only yields 0.75 gb, worthwhile but not addressing the bigger issue. Just analyzing with CC too but expect it will show much the same. Downloaded WinDirStat by coincidence in the meantime after googling and have run that but not sure what the results mean ! It shows the C...

How large a hard drive do I need ?

I wondered about whether windows explorer would show everything. I've looked at the Device Manager too and the system is reserving 0.1 gb on the disk, but no other partitions or anything showing. Is there any other tool for this kind of thing perhaps that would be better ? I'll try googling for...

How large a hard drive do I need ?

Hi guys, It's the pie chart thing in windows explorer that's telling me the C drive is using 270 gb, but in trying to find out what is taking up all that space (because I knew I didn't have that much in the way of pics, music etc), looking at the folders displayed on the first level of the C...

How large a hard drive do I need ?

Morning all, I need to get a new laptop pc, this one has taken to switching itself off a few times every day, usually when the lid is closed, and then gives an unexpected system failure message and has to be rebooted. A bit tiresome and I expect is only going to get worse as it seems to be...

    10.8v versus 18v

As Rob said Mark, depends what you want to do with it, horses for courses and all that. Bit confused also, Makita don't make green stuff as far as I know, their normal colour is blue, and the quality and specs of that gear is the same as the limited range of black and white they brought out...
