    Crown recess tool

Is it for making a dovetail shaped recess for chuck jaws ? If so then just use a diamond card on the top surface.

    Does anyone forage for Mushrooms?

I looked into but seems that you have to use pretty fresh/green logs and particular woods for different mushrooms, seemed a lot more to it than I expected so didn't bother, plenty of wild ones around without the hassle ! :)

    Does anyone forage for Mushrooms?

Think it's more likely to be one of these given the stem shape and what looks like a bulbous base with sack ? https://www.wildfooduk.com/mushroom-guide/the-tawny-grisette/

    Does anyone forage for Mushrooms?

Might be tawny grisette or one of the russulas if the gills are brittle ?

    Does anyone forage for Mushrooms?

Self taught, been doing it for many years now :) Down in the south, New Forest close by, tends to be a bit later before things get going down here. Started out by learning a dozen or so of the best edibles that were hard to confuse with anything else, and a dozen or so dangerous ones at the...

    Elektra Beckum HC260M Fault

Mine has always done that, think it may be a capacitor discharging or an electronic brake or something, never thought of it as a fault tbh.

Axminster Basingstoke due to close because of "dramatically increasing costs"

Maybe, but not really the point I was making :) I research what I want to buy, or know from experience what I'm after, it's then a case of where to get it from, not can I buy a cheaper version/brand that might be a leap of faith. Like for like items they have pretty much always been...

Axminster Basingstoke due to close because of "dramatically increasing costs"

I dropped in this morning and picked up a new 1/2" Crown Cryo bowl gouge that was on my list to get some time anyway, and a few other bits and pieces. It's only five minutes away from me but I seldom used it to be honest, usual story of many things being significantly better priced and/or more...

    Remote for shop extractor

This ^^ :) I have a set with four plug in sockets and two remotes, one remote I've velcroed to the lathe and the other to the bandsaw, so I can control the extraction, air filter, compressor etc from whichever machine I'm working at, they work a treat, not expensive either :)

    Power sanding

I doubt the diameter of the pads are the issue unless you are sanding small bowls with a deep/tight curve where a smaller pad would allow the abrasive to follow the tighter curves better with less edge digging in ?

    Power sanding

Are the marks being caused by the sanding or are they there before sanding and not being removed by the sanding ? Pics may help too.

    Oak splitting

Not sure how the forstner bits can create moisture ? If the bowl gouge is being levered against the rim of the cup while turning it could cause cracking, otherwise it seems more likely that recent pieces of the oak have faults in them and it's just coincidental with the change in method ?
