    Chainsaw oil

Here you go Rob http://www.aspenfuel.co.uk/products/env ... te-petrol/ It's pricey mind, but fuss free, doesn't go off in the machines or storage, doesn't degrade seals and hoses etc, as well as being better for users and environmental health apparently, but it's the storage and machine...

    Chainsaw oil

I use the Aspen fuel, premix, makes my eyes water every time I pick a gallon up at the merchants, but only use a couple a season usually, so worth it in terms of hassle saved and longevity of the mix if left in the tools for a while, despite the high price. Chain oil, still using a big stihl...

    RIP Record CL3/4

No worries, they're good, simple, solid bits of kit and will be around for decades still on the secondhand market, if people ever sell them on of course, many don't ! :)

buffing wheel to sharpen woodturning tools?

That's my concern too, confusing enough for new turners without folk who don't know what they are talking about muddying the waters for their own amusement :) Cheers, Paul

buffing wheel to sharpen woodturning tools?

You're assuming the tormek leather wheel is intended for honing turning tools - it's not ! How much turning experience do you actually have ?

Which bandsaw cool blocks and where from

Okay, well it's great to eliminate as many possible issues as possible at least, even if the problem itself isn't sorted yet ! What is puzzling me is that I don't understand how you can get severe blade twisting in a 3/4" blade that is tensioned with little side deflection, and with the top and...

Which bandsaw cool blocks and where from

That all sounds okay :) With the machine switched off obviously, if you press the front of the blade firmly with a piece of wood, does the blade flex backwards such that the gullet of the teeth then moves further back into the side guides, or have you got the back guides adjusted such that they...

Which bandsaw cool blocks and where from

+1 on the above, how are you setting the side guides in relation to the blade ? The guides should be very close to the blade sides but not actually touching. The side guides should be far enough back behind the gullets of the teeth so that when pressure is applied to the front of the blade...

    Lumber protruding from car boot?

What's lumber ?  As mentioned, make sure you have the front windows open as the exhaust fumes, carbon monoxide, will get sucked into the car otherwise and could get pretty serious ! Cheers, Paul

Help with reassembly of Metabo BAS317 bandsaw

Yep, that should sort it :) Tension the blade with the cam and lever engaged. The lever then allows you to release tension quickly and easily after use without disturbing the settings. Cheers, Paul

    Milling this weekend

Sounds very familiar Mike ! I typically wanted thicker stock for turning bowls and nests of bowls, and soon figured out that a slab of wet timber four or six inches thick couldn't be more than a few feet long or I couldn't move it ! Don't have a carpet fitters trolley to hand but a good...

    Axminster show discounts

Also check prices elsewhere before you go, as Axi' have seemed to be increasingly more expensive than the competition on many lines/products in recent years, such that even their sale prices and special promotions have often been still much more expensive than elsewhere. It may be better on the...
