Choosing lathe advice, tail stock slop?

Yep, or file off the thread or most of the lead screw so it feeds just with tailstock pressure rather than self feeding.

    Routing advice please

A sled arrangement that slides against the fence and clamps and holds the workpiece will be a useful accessory for the router table, good for making tenons and similar as well as the kind of piece you are currently working on.

    Setting Up My Bandsaw

How does the handle lock the fence ? Do you push it down to lock ? If so, and the handle doesn't rotate to tighten or loosen the locking then there may be a nut inside the fence that tightens or loosens the handle ? My guess is that the locking mechanism is a bit tight and causing the fence to...

Visited the Axminster shop for the first time...

Hope you got a good deal on it, they're not always that competitive, although good to browse around !

    Setting Up My Bandsaw

Agree with sunnybob re trying loosening the rubber grommit a bit. Don't know the make of the saw, but on my tablesaw you adjusted the front of the fence by rotating the handle so that the handle cam was tighter or looser when the handle was locked.

Frank Howarth Chainsaw Milling a Walnut tree

Interesting to watch. I was quite honestly frightened also by the second guy holding the end of the mill and how close his legs were to the back of the chain, although he was holding the mill which helped I guess, but still.... ! Was a shame to see so much of a turning blank that size going to...

Oh Lordy how I hate modern plumbing

Not quite sure which thingy bit you mean Rob :) but often the on/off and temp knobs etc are held onto the control shafts with a small grub screw, usually in from underneath where you don't usually notice it and is fiddly to get at !

    New member with Record/Coronet issues

Probably depends largely on what the headstock is mounted to and how heavy and stable that is. If that is up to the job then the other aspect is the motor power, and not only whether it will spin the wood, but how much it slows down when you take any significant cuts. I had a DML24 as a...

    pay pal gift

The important thing to be aware of is that if using paypal gift there is no protection to the payer if goods aren't received, aren't as described or any other problem with the transaction. It's supposed to only be used for sending money to family, friends and similar, not for commercial...

Who is in and who is out?

Most of the leave team, including Boris, aren't in the government, they can't do anything to make things happen or provide leadership, that's the job of Cameron and the Cabinet until a new leader is appointed.

Who is in and who is out?

With respect, you seem to be projecting your own fears and concerns onto others in an arbitrary fashion. My personal decision as to which way to vote did not involve isolationism or blaming immigrants for the nations problems, whatever you think those may be. My own motivations were entirely...

Who is in and who is out?

Yes there is :) As a committed Remainiac, Cameron can't possibly start and execute the process of leaving with any credibility and appetite for a good result. He would completely, not necessarily purposefully I would hope, queer the pitch for the new team and tie their hands or go for...

Who is in and who is out?

No it didn't, to dismiss more than half of the voters in that way just because they don't happen to fit your preconceived ideas and preferences is quite frankly puerile and insulting, and far away from the tolerance that you mention, although perhaps you don't see the irony.

It's more than didn't want the change, what don't you get about it

Who is in and who is out?

Yes, very confused, and not for the first time  The EU subsidies are only the EU giving back a small part of the cash taken from UK tax payers in the first place!

Who is in and who is out?

Are you suggesting it would be more just for quite a bit less than 37% of the electorate, the Remainiacs, to keep the country in Europe when the rest didn't vote for that ?
