    Axminster bandsaw generic replacement motor?

Just another thought, but I'm surprised at using a 3tpi blade on a small machine, and on thinner materials as you are. It may contribute to the motor slowing down as each tooth needs more power to get it through the material than would the smaller teeth on say a 6tpi blade. Would also help on...

WIP - Fence Post Tomato Planter

Looking good Rob :) Like yourself I always remember where the different pieces of timber have come from and the story behind them. makes it kind of special, or maybe a bit sad, but I prefer to think special !

Epic Haul of Lime, Sycamore and Birch

A fair bit of work involved by the looks of it, but well worth it I'm sure :)

Aqualisa shower dripping can it be fixed

Did you notice different o-rings/rubber seals when you took the cartridge out ? You can buy replacement packs with the sizes needed for our showers, or if you are lucky you might find sizes you need at the usual places a bit cheaper.

Auger bit - is it any good?

I may be mistaken, but I think the spur-less ones are generally used on end grain.

    Just seen the silky katanaboy!

My experience is the same. I have a couple of silky pocket boys in different blade lengths and tpi for cutting smaller green wood and garden pruning etc, and a couple of years ago treated myself to a silky bigboy in 8 tpi to replace my bow saw for cutting larger firewood. The silky monsters...

How long should a bandsaw blade last?

That's actually what I ended up with ! I have a largish startrite with upgraded motor and coarse toothed blade for serious larger work, and kept my old rexon benchtop saw and it has a narrow, finer toothed blade on it for cutting curves and thinner materials. Saves a lot of problems and...

    Auger bits for brace

I think the ones without spurs are for end grain drilling where the spurs would be redundant, not sure if the edge geometry may be slightly different too with that in mind ? Happy to be corrected though ! :)

    Bandsaw blade suggestions

I've never known teeth to get burred over, lose a bit of sharpness but not burring, what have you been cutting with it ?

Lathe Help - not running true

I think that model has a normal bearing Chas, the phospor bronze bearing being on the CL3 ? Might be mistaken on that though.

    Startrite 351E bandsaw motor swap

Yes, I can see that bashing your head while doing it wouldn't help at all !!! What might help though is that the doors just lift off the hinge pins, on mine anyway and hopefully on yours, so if in the way I just lift them off and put to one side. No idea why they can't just hinge them on the...

Glad you're up and running again FG :) The guides are quite quick and simple to set once you have done it a few times, honestly ! ;)

Open day at Edward Barnsley Furniture

I've been at their open day a few years ago, very worthwhile and interesting to visit, small, but lots to see and some makers and apprentices to chat to.

    sharp knife.

If you're carving green wood then the edge should last longer I would expect, but if carving dry, seasoned hardwoods then I wouldn't be surprised that it is losing a bit of bite after a while. Stropping will certainly make a noticeable difference and will extend the periods between resharpening...
