    Bandsaw issue

It's do'able, but it will likely have an effect on the blade :)

    Bandsaw issue

That with a 5/8" blade and 3 or 4 tpi would pretty much affect the set of the teeth I would expect, surprised you managed to get such a tight radius with that blade ! Keep that blade for curved cuts and get a new one for straight ripping.

    Bandsaw issue

How long is the cut roughly, and how thick is the timber being cut ? Can often be caused by too few teeth for the thickness being cut, not enough blade tension, too fast a feed rate, tooth set being affected by tight curve cuts as a quick brain dump :)

Converting timber stable into a workshop

I'm interested in this also, particularly the insulation aspect and whether a membrane serves any purpose as there won't be any air movement between the insulation and cladding. My own similar project is to insulate and clad a 20' x 12' timber shed to provide a modest workshop. The shed is...

    Chuck jaws coming loose

That's good news :) Wonder if introducing a thin spacer of plastic, paper, card or whatever between the chuck adaptor and the spindle might shift the balance slightly and reduce or eliminate the vibration ? Could be worth experimenting perhaps ?

    Gumtree rant

It's useful for low value and/or bulky stuff that you wouldn't want to have to post, and it is fee free (unless you pay for a pinned ad), but yes, can get a fair few time wasters along the way ! I guess it's because there is no feedback system, so folk can mess you around, for whatever reason...

    Towbars

When we recently wanted to add a tow bar and electrics to my wife's car the local VW dealer quoted a price that was about double that of the independent specialists, on querying that they actually let slip that they outsource the work to an independent and don't even do the work themselves !!!

    Good alternatives to Tuffsaws?

Maybe you should give the supplier the feedback and ask their advice. There may be more appropriate blades for your machine and/or usage. Some machines, particularly the cheap, small three wheeled bandsaws for example, go through blades at a rate of knots as the three wheel design means the...

    Axminster faceplate ring

Lots of different ways I guess as usual. I just use a large forstner bit in the pillar drill to make a recess in the top of the bowl blank to take the normal "shark" jaws, mount on the lathe using that recess, turn the outside including the bottom spigot or recess, and then reverse onto that, no...

    Axminster faceplate ring

To be honest, I've never felt the need for a faceplate ring over the years of turning, recesses or spigots being easy to make in the workpieces, or sacrificial layers glued on if needed on thinner pieces. What do folk use them for, is it where you might want to repeat mount a piece. I have...

    .........

The boxes don't really negate harm to prey birds or animals who eat the poisoned mice afterwards. Only thing I can think of, which is a bit wacky :) would be having each of the tyres standing in water so the mice don't get up and onto/into the car. That assumes they don't swim of course and I...

    Diamond stone going orange

It's the metal particles removed from the plane sole and left on the diamond plate that then rust. Remove by washing under a tap with nailbrush and some mild detergent, or just rub clean with a pencil eraser, or just leave them until/unless you think the plate is too clogged and performance...

I want a small dog to suiit my age and situation

This sounds very familiar ! It's a common misconception that they need lots of exercise, a couple of ten minute high octane sessions in the garden chasing frisbee and tennis balls, or a twenty to thirty minute stroll a day, and they'll happily spend the rest of the day on the best seat in the...
