Penguins - first proper scroll saw making!

Very nice Lee. If you want to enhance future penguins and other items you make it may pay you to invest in a dremel router table and a dremel multi-tool with a rounding over bit, it really does add a nice professional touch to the penguins. They are my best seller at the craft fairs.

    Fine height adjuster

I posted a thread last week about problems I was having setting up my UJK compact router table from Axy and my Makita router. I needed a router with a fine height adjuster and bought the Makita RP1110C but what I did not realise was that when the router was upside down and fitted to the table...

First proper piece on new Hegner.

Well done Phil. Sue will love that dog. I broke loads of blades when I forst got my Hegner, tell me Phil, are they breaking at the lower clamp, if so you are over tightening the clamp. I was amazed at just how little tesion you need to hold the blade in. With all respects to Bryan I think its a...

    some more clocks

When I first started to get into scroll saw work I tried a bit of everything. The emphasis of my work was to make money, a second income, so it was not really a hobby as it is with a lot of people who can spend months making a single project. I am in the same ball park as Mark. I make things to...

    Hegner questions.

Hi Martin. I cant help you with the zero clearance, I had my table changed for a cast iron one with a slot in it rather that an inseert. I really can't understand why manufactuirers put in insert plates, some will say that it is needed when the table is tilted but I have not found this to be the...

    Router lift

Many thenks Guys for all your help, its a trip to Halfords now. I have the UJK compact router table from Axy and the top is cast iron and an inch and a half thick, weighs a ton so I am confident that the scissor jack will work now after all you have said. I will be sure to make sure the air...

    Router lift

I finally got my router table assembled and this morning finally got the router fitted to the insert plate. I wanted a router that had a height adjuster and the one that is on the new Makita is next to useless. I cannot physically get under the table to push the router up every time I need to...

    Router table question

I am quite new to routing but used them quite a lot when I was on the tools a few years back, mainly hand held for hinges, rebates etc. I have just bought from Axminster one of their UJK compact router tables, its exactly what I want. To cut a long story short several parts were missing and...

    I cant believe it

I had to stop for lunch after I assembled the table and then it was time to assemble the fence, which is quite complex. According to the assemble instructions there are 8 parts missing from the fence. I have sent Axy a strong e-mail with photos of how it looks so far. There were no spacers...

    I cant believe it

All the new kit came this morning so I thought I would assemble the UJK compact router table from Axy first. All was going well despite the terrible instructions and I got the actual table assembled. A cross bar with bolts was missing that goes across one end and holds the mitre fence and other...

    Hegner Stand - Dimensions

Well done Steve. As Martinka commented, its better than the real thing, you will obviously bolt the saw down with at least 3 bolts. It will be better when you have the shelf fitted to add a little extra weight and if you find the saw still vibrates then add a couple bags of sand or some slabs...

Second hand Hegner or AWFS 18?

In your shoes I would go for the Hegner, there is no comparison between the clone and the real thing, it does not even come close. The build quality is aweful. Look at recent post on this forum. Phil has just got rid of his AWFS18 and got himeself a Hegner, read his comments. I would seriously...

    Proxxon foot switch for hegner?

Hi Phil. I can only imagine how things are with you. I hope Sue is now back at home and making a full recovery. Despite being back at work I hope you are able to get on your saw now and again. Yes the hegner is really the ultimate saw when compared to whats on the market. It is smooth, quiet...

    New kit

Hi Phil. I don't actually take delivery of the router until Tuesday. I know I am not going to be dissapointed. My only concern is that I will be able to fit it to the router table without to many problems. I ordered a few bits from Axy and the smallest roundover bit I ordered was £15-80 and had...

    New kit

Many thanks Gill. Yes, I think all scrollers get a little excited when a new piece of equipment comes along. Its another learing curve but as in all things to do with scroll sawing its exciting as well as challenging. It will be a matter of practicing on scraps for many of the things I have in...

    New kit

Thanks Eugene for your kind comments. Looking forward to adding another dimension to new things made on the scroll saw. Phil. I am going to be doing some inlay work with the new kit but also making some jewelery boxes, the new kit will enable me to do comb and dovetiail joints for the corners...

    Proxxon foot switch for hegner?

Hi Phil. Glad to hear you got your Hegner at last and I am sure you are happy with it. I bought the hegner foot switch with my hegner saw and had a really good deal. Yes, the foot switch is very expensive for what it is but I could not use any of my saws without one as I am so used to them now...

    New kit

As we all know when we start to get into scroll saw work it isn't just a scroll saw we need, there is a shedfull of other equipment we need depending on how far we intend to go with our hobby, with me it is no longer a hobby, I earn a big part of my living with what i produce on the scroll saw...

    Mac problem

Hi Roger. I am only using the one tool bar that is on Safari. All the icons are a dark colour except the back button which is a light gray and nothing happens when I click on it. I have to go back to the home page and type in again what i was trying to look up. I dont have the problem when I am...

I am using the back button on the toolbar and in Safari. I have tried everything I can think of. I have gone to tool bar preferences but nothing there.
