    Kitchen hobs - advice please

I would say Neff or Siemens. The LPG idea is sound - we have a big range cooker with 6 burners and use only 1 35kg bottle a year. Normally this runs out on Christmas Eve which is when I remember that I should have replaced the spare one as well (that emptied last Christmas Eve)! T

    Double cranked brass hinges?

You shouldn't do, unless you cut all the way through the panel. I've used similar for drop down panels and you can't see the hinge at all when the flap is closed. Cheers Tim

    Double cranked brass hinges?

Would this kind of hinge be okay aesthetically? Certainly will do want you need it to. Cheers Tim

    Correct height for pictures wall?

http://www.govart.com/faq.html#6 seems logical and probably equals the 2/3 room height suggestion already discussed. T

Measure twice, cut once - a salutory lesson

Thanks for your messages of sympathy! There were 398 pieces in the final cutlist so its slightly more understandable as to how they slipped through the net. In the end I was grateful it was the width that was off and not the height. SInce a lot of the cabinets are different widths there is...

Measure twice, cut once - a salutory lesson

We've all heard it said, we've probably all said it. So why do we ignore it sometimes. Actually the measurement was fine, it was the calculation in the spreadsheet that was wrong. :x When rebating a back panel, make sure to add twice the depth of the groove to the width of the base not...

    Radiator Drain off valve

Your hot water and heating should be separate. You may not have heating but you should be able to just have hot water for washing etc. Cheers Tim

Don't buy Porter Cable in UK!!!

I'm about to send my T11 back to Trend for the third and probably final time. It was one of the early recalls and then the bearings seized. This third one is exhibiting early signs of the same bearings overheating plus when it was in the table the other day I tried to rotate the cutter by hand...

    scumbags

Glad they've found it. Make sure the insurers check it over before you take hold of it again. Who knows what they might have done to it that isn't immediately visible. Cheers Tim

    Bankers

Not sure thats true. I'm a First Direct customer and they don't offer business banking facilities. When I asked, they directed me to HSBC. So I assume therefore that FD is all personal banking. Cheers Tim

Corded drill with brake - does it exist?

I am after a corded drill to use with my Kreg jig and I have a cheapy Bosch one that still works fine after about 12 years but its not braked in any way and this makes it difficult to move from hole to hole quickly ie putting spinning drill into metal lined hole equals dull bit. My cordless...

    scumbags

Thats bad news. Really sorry to hear about it. Is it possible that this: and are related? Sadly these things are nicked to order. The Ford Escort Cosworth had an estimated 3 day lfespan before being nicked - I assume that the Impreza is probably in the same category. Utterly...

    Connecting laptop to TV

I've tried that and it doesn't seem to do anything - it doesn't even blank the laptop screen which is rather odd. Maybe it needs to have a VGA cable connected ie monitor to monitor - but what do I know  :-k Cheers Tim

    Connecting laptop to TV

Right. Thanks for all your help and advice. I have now got the appropriate S-video cable and all seems hunky dory IF you use the TV as an extended part of the desktop ie slide the appropriate widow onto the TV screen (took me ages to work this out). This would be fine except that if you opt...

    Connecting laptop to TV

Is there a way to connect my laptop to my TV so that I can effectively use the TV screen as a monitor, particularly for showing photos that are stored on the hard drive? The TV has three scarts (but they are round the back) and it also has a side port for connecting video camera - although I've...

    Axminster fine tools event?

I think that Axminster have made a glaring marketing error here. Even on their website it was difficult to find yet they manage to send out b***dy irritating 'caring for abandoned basket' emails if you don't order within about an hour of putting anything in your online trolley. The customer...
