    Why buy from AXMINSTER TOOLS?

I think any of this Chiwanese stuff isn't going to be fit for use 'straight out the box'...it's all going to need a fettle to a lesser or greater degree and that's one of the reasons it's fairly economical. If you want to buy European (Felder,Knapp, Robland etc) which may generally be built to...

    European woodworking show

Not at all Tom, having an excellent day, but I've thought for some time that many of the shows are 'so so' and fairly predictable and if you've been to one ...That said, I've not been to CT so if I did I might have to force feed 'humble pie', but it's also a long round trip from Salisbury...

    European woodworking show

Too far for me. I could almost guarantee that it'll be the same old stuff from the same old companies and we all know who they are - Rob

    Why buy from AXMINSTER TOOLS?

Agreed, I don't think it's fair to brand it as 'awful'. If there is a fault, there's no question that Axminster will go the extra mile (and then some, as we all know) to rectify it. That said Ax machinery is probably no worse than any other stuff imported from Chiwan - Rob

    The Mask Cabinet...WIP

Neil, the stopped groove is easily done on the router table. Simply mark the 'start' and 'stop' points on an adjacent face (ie the one facing you, so you can see them) and then mark in pencil on the router table surface the 'start' and 'stop' points of the router cutter being used. In use...

    Why buy from AXMINSTER TOOLS?

...and what's even better Jim, is that Axminster is one of the few companies that will deliver heavy machinery into your workshop and put it exactly where you want it. Many other companies will simply drop the crate at the kerbside and then it's up to you how you get it into the 'shop and if...

Ash Wall Mounted Display Cabinet - WIP

Nice, straight forward job Steve. My main comments would be with regard to the grain orientation of the doors. If you look at the final pic: ...here, you can see exactly what I'm blathering on about. The bottom rhs door rail ought to have been placed in the top lhs door, but the other way...

    The Mask Cabinet...WIP

There's an update to this project here if anyone's interested. The original posting caused so little comment that I don't think I'll bother posting projects on UKWorkshop any more. In fact, apart from RogB, DW, Mailee and a few others, there seems to be very little work of any interest posted...

i recommend Alf's tutorial (where is she btw?) on making LPOH (London Pattern Octagonal Handles) The two chisels shown below: ...were made in English Walnut and to get a really nice sweep at the front, the smallest ferule that you can get away with should be used. The deep 'V' half way...
