New workshop .......yes, I have stopped dithering

Usually a joist floor means that it is 3x2 joists if your lucky. I still think the floating slab i described would be best in this situation, Perhaps more then 8 inches deep at the sides though, to protect the wood from splashing and rising damp. This means you'd have to make a hump so the...

    Cheapest Place For Tormek T3

I actually stumbled on a Foley Belsaw Sharpening centre for a £102 delivered. After using this to hone one of my irons i think the Tormek's are very over priced. While it is true they have a lot of attachments, they cost a lot of money as well. It just seems every time you turn your head to...

    BriMarc, what's the story?

I've noticed for a while now the little ad on the banner but i got a small catalog with F&C and it looks very similar to Axminster. Is it? I looked through the catalog and i can't spot the difference. So why even bother opening a new store the same as Axminster. Is there some background info...

New workshop .......yes, I have stopped dithering

I would go for a 6 inch slab with the perimeter being 8 inches at least to a distance of 1 foot into the building. I would also reinforce it with either a mesh or a grid of rebar on 16 inch centers. Basically you are building a floating slab. If you have to pay for a pump and someone to do...

What to do with a log

if you have a friend to help you just put it through the bandsaw. If you don't have a big enough one i'm sure you could find someone who does that will help you for a bit of cash. good thing it is only 3 feet long though!

I don't know what qualifies you to be the judge. What he was doing was not safe much less an accepted way of coping. I couldn't care less if he was god. In my opinion some people need to lighten up a little, this is a forum not The FineWoodworking site, I stand by my comment as a bit of fun...

    Grinding alignment jig

I very much like the jig you made. It is something we can make on our own and just looking at your drawings helped me understand the angles much better. I'm so used to just popping the blade onto the rest and adjusting it to create the same bevel that i just haven't given much thought to it...

What do you think of the Kity 613 Bandsaw?

The only time prices go up on ebay is when you want the item. I watched no. 7 planes for months and even bid on a few. There seemed to be a pattern. They went for about 60 quid unless i bid and then they magically went for more. I can't explain it. The one's i didn't bid on went some times...

ummmm i posted it as a joke. Not as a serious idea. Could you imagine holding an 8 inch grinder with one hand and the skirting board with the other.

That's what i was thinking! but it was funny non the less. It would be quicker with a 8 inch grinder  He probably can't use a coping saw.

When you cut with the grain does it tend to try following the grain? How much force does it take to make it cut a straight line with grain?

    Teaching woodwork to school kids

A bit cold for floor leveling today. So here are a few examples of stack animals that can be made on the scroll saw. So much fun and they can paint them in art class after.
