It's still there, don't worry... Just cut it so it's just below the top of the blade, rather than above it. Let's me cut timber without going all the way through it, for splines, for example. Does mean the guard can't be fitted on top, which I don't think I've ever used anyway

I thought after much browsing of this site and admiration of all your fine works, I'd post my first picture frame, really my first project that isn't in some way house/DIY related. Used beech for the frame and black walnut for the splines, not perfect but happy enough for a first attempt...

You don't really need all that many tools to build a reasonable she-d. Only tools I think would be essential are a chop saw and an impact driver. Skill saw would be nice but you could make do with a jigsaw (to rip the cladding at the top of the roof line and cut plywood for roof) Nailgun you'd...

Looking good ! I know when I put the door into my old outbuilding I doubled the timber on either side of the door, lot of weight and stress by opening it etc so may be worth considering for the sake of a few pounds! Coming on nicely though, look forward to some more pictures !
