    Tool sharpening scam warning

Pictures of individuals are not required thank you. We'd like to avoid any possible libel/ slander accusations. On a personal note: I think its safe to say that any individual turning up unannounced and offering to take your tools away should be politely told to go away thank you.

Just a thought - why don't we have a workshop build forum

Possible yes, probable no. There are 256 plus pages of threads which would have to be manually gone through and moved one at a time. I agree that the catch all title is a little random but thats the way it is and only admin can change that. A revamp and sort out of the forum is overdue, but...

GIMP will do most things, bit of a learning curve but hundreds if not thousands of tutorials about most thing you'd like to do. Alternatively, try a UKW crowdsource :) give us a remit and see what people come with.

    tool sharpening ...help please

Look at JPT's setup midway down this page sharpening-turning-tools-options-for-the-beginner-t29556.html A 6 or 8 inch grinder with a white wheel (record), a few suitably shaped bits of wood and a couple of bolts will create your rest (as in Keith Rowley woodturning, a foundation course ) and...

    I dont believe it

The adverts and pop ups on UKW and other web sites are just placeholders for your browser (google) to place adverts 'relevant to you', I.E. anything and everything you may have searched for or web pages you have visited anytime in the past.

    Curtain rings

Same as a captive ring I guess, so using a spindle gouge or cheat and use a captive ring tool. With the ring being captive around a shaft it makes it easy to sand the inner curve with a strip of abrasive while the ring is 'powered' by bouncing on the rotating shaft...

    Post your Workshop Thread

Hi DM, Thanks for the suggestion. As mentioned, projects-workshop-tours.html forum already covers that area albeit along with the others mentioned in the title. If we added another forum for every suggestion there would be pages of titles to choose from. May I suggest that anyone that wishes to...

I need a block plane!!! Has anyone used the faithful ones?

No flattening here :) straight out of the handbag, a quick lick on the stone and away. I wouldn't know the difference between a Lie Neilson and a Harry Nilsson, but it did what I needed. And don't forget this came with a No.4 too for 29 quid.

I need a block plane!!! Has anyone used the faithful ones?

I bought the faithful twin pack for 20 odd quid from the merchants the other week. A no4 and a block plane in little handbags. casting is a little rough and they need a sharpening but they remove wood which is more than the decent plane I haven't got does :)
