Audiophiles - amp protection advice - wrong power lead?

Nowt to do with power lead, quite a few proper Amps have just a two pin, and yes, they're metal cased e.g. my old Denon, somewhere around the 1kw mark had only 2 pins If the blown components are on the output stages of a quality amp you will probably find that direct replacements will be...

    Newbie's Learning Curve

=D> Looks more than OK to my admittedly unexperienced eye, and you seem to be dealing with circles a lot better than me. Posting pics of early stuff is a good way of getting hints and tips to help improve ones technique and should be encouraged more - we all begin at zero experience! Its also...

    WIP Understairs Pull Out Drawers

Sharpy hasn't visited since 2012 so you probably won't get a reply. I'd suggest looking at Blum full extension drawer runners - they come in various lengths and load weights.

    I am a pedant.

Or anyone working in any kind of industrial environment or fixing cars clubbing a random RSJ with an angle grinder to make make sparks! or fixing a vw beetle engine under the bonnet! You'd think that even the least mechanical of actors would mention there is no engine to tinker with

    (Hegner) Blade clamps (pin-less)

No worries Martin, I failed to provide all the information, so it were fair comment. Thanks Clockie too, indeed not far away, I'm in Capel Hendre. I shall be in touch if I need a close up :)

    (Hegner) Blade clamps (pin-less)

The idea is to replace the existing flat metal supports with new ones with a V in to contain the clamps, etc. Excuse the world class drawings  Thinking about it Theres no real need for the top (green) or bottom clamp holders other than to play catch when the blade goes twang. I'm...

    (Hegner) Blade clamps (pin-less)

Evening all, Well the Axminster pin-less blade clamps I fitted to my Ferm saw lasted about 10 'clamps' before one broke :( Whilst I'm sure Axminster will replace it my thoughts have moved on to other blade clamps that may be available as spares that I could possibly adapt and fit to my saw...

    Making small router jigs

I'm pants at maths so what I would do is Place bush and bit against an edge and measure from edge of work to edge of cutter? take that dimension and enlarge your sketchup shape by same amount using the offset tool. print it out at 100% stick it to mdf and cut it out with a jigsaw etc.

Memory Foam Pillow from Lidl £7.99 -Anyone got one?

You are obviously looking for a new pillow or you wouldn't be asking about it. (I would hope you're not just picking random objects you see about the place and asking woodworkers opinions about them for no particular reason apart from general curiosity.) If it were a 70 quid pillow I can...

    Making small router jigs

Sorry, senior moment here #-o You copy your shape by tracing around it onto 12mm mdf. cut it out with jigsaw or whatever and sand to finish. stick this to your new stock and use a bearing guided cutter to trim to size. Have a look at this video from about 7.50 minutes on...

    Making small router jigs

Nope. The 'hole' in the template would be + thickness, but when you use that to guide cutter you are back to original size :)

Protecting oil tank from falling trees

Seems 500 quid is the going rate. Its what we paid to fell a very large spruce about fifteen feet from the house. Given that it had to fall in one direction only avoid house, greenhouse and sheds it was not something I was going to tackle myself with the chainsaw.

My first scroll-saw. Now, what to do with it?

I'll check for continuity between the lamp casing and saw later to see if it earths via the case. EDIT: There is no continuity between the flexi arm and base, and the magnet/ metal base is cushioned/ isolated with a rubber 'o-ring' so the lamp base does not actually contact the saw. So I would...
