Recommendations of stockists of 80 different woods

Are there 80 different woods available in the UK? I would think that was a very tall ask. I would also imagine that once you get past a dozen or two samples the visual differences would become less and less. Happy to be proved wrong mind you. Stiles and Bates have 36 exotic varieties and 18...

    Finish for silver birch bowl

Keith, I did not 'clarify' CHJ's advice because I thought his advice needed clarifying, I merely attempted to a) explain it in a way a COMPLETE novice may understand it and b) to save CHJ the need to repeat again the advice given in other threads without the chance of you suggesting he was...

    Finish for silver birch bowl

I think you seem to be under some misapprehension about the term 'moderator' moderator (ˈmɒdəˌreɪtə ) noun 1. a person or thing that moderates 2. Presbyterian Church a minister appointed to preside over a Church court, synod, or general assembly 3. a presiding officer at a public or...

    Finish for silver birch bowl

I hesitated to reply as I am also a Moderator and you may deem it cyberbullying if someone also of the same 'seniority within the environment' adds comment, but I'd just like to reply to, clarify or reinforce the above points. Repeating or reinforcing the same comment for safety sake...

    Welder for a relative novice

We* use a portable stick welder/ generator in work for welding handrails, fencing, gates and the like on site. Very handy having it provide power (110v) for the grinder etc and then weld away. Doubt it would be any good for tin work or the like so depends on what you'd like to weld I suppose...

    Kity 636 P/T capacitor?

Does anyone know what the capacitor rating/ fixing is on a Kity 636? I cannot get to pull it apart to look till next week sometime but if anyone has swapped one (recently?) and has the details, maybe I can get one before then. Thanks in advance.

    Scroll saw blades adaptor?

  Yes, I had to do the same but completely forgot about that, sorry. In my defence  I don't have the bottom side panel on mine, its in the drawer, so didn't realise you'd normally have trouble accessing the offending part, but as you say a quick gentle tweak with some...

    draper HD19/16c pillar drill

What they said :) So all three should be level at the grooves/ belt seats. Possibly the motor has been changed to one with a different length shaft? I believe the motor is fixed on a sliding plate so you should be able to move it up or down. If its just the wrong size maybe a re-drilling of the...

    Another Beetle (rough as five)

Different pattern, a bit chunkier, and a tiny bit more experience, but getting there (although I do lose track of the blade sometimes , probably need to check my prescription again 8) , still using the scrappy big shed ply. from this (spot the deliberate mistake #-o )... (from...

    Scroll saw blades adaptor?

Correct , not on the NMA web page. But a quick call to the spares/parts dept on T: 44 (0)1484 400 488 will get you what you need. They emailed me a PDF parts diagram to confirm I was after the right bits and took the order over the phone. One slight hiccup in that the diagram lists the seat...

    (Hegner) Blade clamps (pin-less)

Sheppach SD1600V Blade holders from NMA agencies, can't find the receipt but about 6 quid each + 3.50 P&P +VAT. The base of the clamps where they sit on the arms have ridges (I assume the Sheppach arms are narrower) but that doesn't stop them from fitting, and I'll probably flatten them...

    Rough as ten!

and after two hours of cutting (doesn't time just fly ) ... I think the front wing and what I assume to be front spots area could do with a little amending on the pattern but its definitely a Mini.
