    Double Bi-fold door installation questions

Hi All Existing: Single 800mm (Ish) sliding door (homemade) on stud wall. Desired: replace above with 2 off 1981x762mm bifold doors (Jeld-wen 60quid) in new frame in existing stud wall. Question 1: can anyone recommend a good magnetic latch that will 'hold' the two doors together when closed...

Poor man's Scary sharp tool Sharpening system?

Sorry to be blunt, but enough is enough. Please stop trolling. The majority of your posts are either telling people not to spend money because a pound shop tool and a bit of gaffer tape will do the job just as well if not better, down to your years of experience, or asking questions like this...

    Laminating for beginners

Thanks for all the advice gents. I had a quick experiment yesterday with what I have to hand, cut a few slices off a block of oak and clamped them between two thin formers with a film of titebond original between each leaf. It worked! to a degree anyway. Spot on where the clamps were, a little...

What are these for? mystery items that come with the lathe

I'd agree with Phil and say tool no3 is a bowl gouge, but from this angle the grind profile is wrong and you should probably avoid using it. Give us a pic or two of the profile and we can take it from there.

    Laminating for beginners

Had a quick gander for veneers and they seem to be approx 0.6mm or construction veneer at 1mm. Will a 1mm veneer in something plain like oak, ash, walnut, cherry...

    Laminating for beginners

Evening gents Is it feasible to use a few sheets of wood veneer to create a small rigid (ish) shape? Making another scooter but slightly larger this time and wondering if I can create the leg shields by laminating? The bends are only in one plane and size is approx 50mm X 360mm (2off) and...

    Lambretta scooter

Cheers folks. It was a bit of a nostalgia trip for me (though possibly not as far back as you gents :-" , the early 80's for me), and wood choice was down to what was in the drawer. I was almost tempted to go for dyed tyres but decided all wood would be a tad posher. Chalk and cheese :) but...

    Lambretta scooter

To go with the Vespa, a Lambretta. Had to draw my own plans for this one which took a while but I'm chuffed with the result. One for the shelf this one. Cheated for the wheels and used the lathe but the rest is all scrollsaw. Oak, walnut and an unknown for the panels and mudguard, possibly...

    Making wheels, suggestions please.

Well I bit the bullet, had a sort out and unboxed the lathe. Completely forgotten how to use any of the tools  but I'm sure it'll come back to me eventually.

My apologies to Mr. Charlesworth, it is now obvious that you and Mr. Cohen are familiar with each other and your comment was not a snipe as it appeared to me, but friendly banter. Thanks too to lurker for pointing it out to me.
