    DeWalt 876 Bandsaw tension issues.

Looking at the image here.. When you turn the knob on top of the machine the top wheel should move up or down. somewhere in the arrowed area the wheel axle will be fixed to a block or similar which in turn is connected to the up/ down threaded bolt. So with the blade off turn the knob and see...

    proxxon dsh 2 speed

Try some different blades. It was really hard going with the cheapies that came with my saw ending up with me pushing harder than necessary to try and get them to cut and as a result chasing the machine across the bench. I bought a Pegas blade assortment (from Axminster) and its like a new saw...

    Practical tips for beginners.

Yes we know you know things, boy do we know. you will note that I left your initial relevant post about learning to sharpen ones tools as it is relevant and helpful. What is not helpful is you and the rest of the world arguing about who is right. Go start a thread of your own and you can...

    Practical tips for beginners.

I like the idea, but as already shown people are inclined to put forth their own way of doing things as that is what they consider the correct way, and anything else is wrong. They have the inability to accept that while a different method to that which they employ it is still a viable method...

    Gumtree rant

Yep, timewaster central. Also don't put your phone number on the ad. Recently I advertised a cheap car on Gumtree and subsequently received at least 3 phone calls a day greeting me by my listed gumtree name concerning my 'recent motor collision'. All from different numbers, landlines and...

Any change to forum software can only be implemented by Charley. Any change to or of the software is down to him. Whilst I agree that the software could do with at the very least some tweaks or indeed updating or replacing altogether with a newer, easier to use (for computer operators with L...

    An odd project!

and a long piece of string in case the solenoid fails :) I imagine it would be fairly straightforward to knock up a test piece from ply and some nuts and bolts. May need to gear the weight drop or introduce some friction to give a smooth 'turn', but I reckon it would work.
