    Rookie first lathe

Record Power (esp the older blue ones CL2/3) are a decent lathe and usually reasonably priced used and widely available. You probably covered it on your course but apart from the height over the bed (which dictates the maximum size of bowl you can turn if the head does not swivel) one of the...

    New woodworker - help

Welcome :) What they all said ^^ plus, good news! Cutting a straight line with a jigsaw especially in real wood and thicker than a few mm is nigh on impossible. The blade bends and wanders of its own accord regardless of skill or tool quality.

finally tried out my tuff saw blade

I swapped blades (both Tuffsaws) to a (used) finer one a week or two ago and no matter what I tried I could not get it to cut parallel to the fence. Ordered a new one which arrived 3 days later. Fitting Method: Slacken all guides so they're out of the way, fit blade (the right way up), tension...

    Which "Stanley" knife? Recommendations please.

Had to order some stuff from CPC so added one of the Stanley sliders as per Lons suggestion and pleasantly surprised with how robust it is. I may well grab a 199 or a dolphin next time out to hang on the garage wall rather keep than in the tool box - not keen on keeping the fixed blade knife in...

    Which "Stanley" knife? Recommendations please.

I have a few, they're all broken in some way or another. I've two Stanleys one yellow, possibly a fatmax , that the little plastic blade release button snapped off about a week after I bought it, so now involves tools for a simple blade change and A grey and black one that was dropped from the...

Thank you all again gents. I was only expecting the 'winner' to donate a tenner but it seems most, if not all of you have donated a few quid, and whilst unexpected is thoroughly appreciated. =D> =D>

Give a tenner to charity: mystery box

Glad it got there Pete. Originally was just the brace and spokeshave but thought I'd chuck in the other bits as I'll never use them. Hope you find something useful.

    Fox Planer-thicknesser F22564/200 spare parts

Either the Allen (hex) key or the bolt heads are made from too soft a metal. If the Allen key was a freebie with the machine I would strongly suggest that's where the problem lies. Try a decent Allen key or hex socket from the likes of Bondhus, they're not that pricey. If the bolt head is too...

Give a tenner to charity: mystery box

We wouldn't want to ruin Pete's surprise would we :D Maybe he can do the big reveal after he's received the parcel. (but I wouldn't get too excited, there are no first edition museum pieces in there :) )
