    New baby Scheppach tablesaw

No problem at all, no - as far as I understand it, the Kity was the best TS in this price range/type. I know Tony and KityUser are very pleased with theirs. To be honest though, the picture of the TS2010 doesn't look much like the Kity anyway - I'm sure Scheppach had been planning it well...

    New baby Scheppach tablesaw

Apologies if this is old news, but I've just noticed the new Scheppach TS2010 tablesaw in the latest DM Tools catalogue (p. 29 if you are interested). There is an entry on the DM website for it, but without any details or pictures. Worth a look as an alternative to the Elektra-Beckum PK200...

    Precision router joinery jig

If anyone is interested in this jig, I would recommend that you pm Rockerau for the article from Australian Woodworker - it has plenty of detail about the jig, which looks excellent BTW. NeilCFD

    Workshop Picture

Very nice, Noely - I can tell you've been at this for a while! I like the Axminster saw guard/extraction thingy - how is it? BTW, your avatar has gone walkabout... NeilCFD

Importing power tools from USA, has anyone here done it?

Hi John, Unfortunately Amazon.com won't ship tools outside the US. I've never done this myself so I can't suggest any alternatives, but I'm sure you'll get some other good suggestions (and lots of advice not to do it at all!) NeilCFD

    Anyone got a Metabo BST12IMP 12V Drill/driver?

Well, maybe you won't find it special - I don't know what sort of charger your Makitas have... My existing drill/drivers have 3-hour dumb chargers. As it took so long, I tended to forget that I had left a battery on charge and it would end up being overcharged which, as I understand it...

    Anyone got a Metabo BST12IMP 12V Drill/driver?

Hi James, I ordered one last week from DM - it arrived on Friday :) Just to confirm, it does have the impulse feature, as does the Axminster version I'm sure. BTW, Axminster price is now £110. The DM-tools one comes with the new C45 45-minute intelligent charger which is brilliant - the...

    Cutting dovetails - a confession

They look perfect to me, Alf... So what is the secret - is it your new Japanese chisels making all the difference? NeilCFD

Looking for grinder jig design or plans

Hi CYC, How about looking at the Tormek manual: http://www.tormek.se/eng/handbook/pdf/hb-10e.pdf A big download at 20MB but it should have a lot of useful info in. NeilCFD

Advice on a 1/2" Router please

Hi Bilzee, I have the Makita 3612C which is excellent, but is quite pricey at £220. I would have looked at the similarly-priced DeWalt 625EK if the new version had been out at the time, purely because of its 80mm plunge depth which would have been ideal for the table. As a cheaper option, I'm...

    Question for the chisel specialists..

Hi Chris, Can I ask which book you scanned the wedged through tenon from? I know I've seen that picture before, but I just can't remember where  Thanks, NeilCFD

    Which screws do you use?

Hi Chris, I use boxes and boxes of Spax screws and I'm in agreement with you that they are pretty good. I would say that 'Chez NeilCFD' could rival 'Maison Waterhead' for extremely naff screws used by previous owners, but I'm sure whoever has the house next will be singing my praises when they...

Converting industrial building to woodworking workshop

Yes, sorry Shadowfax - I wasn't very accurate with what I was saying, and should have said 'polystyrene-like substance' as I've no idea what they are made of nowadays. The heaters will certainly be fine with whatever is used for the tiles now, as they are designed specifically for this...

Converting industrial building to woodworking workshop

Hi John, If you go down the conventional suspended ceiling route using the aluminium channel & polystyrene tiles which Chris suggested, there is a very neat way of getting some heating in too. A Swedish company called Energostrip make radiant panel heaters which match the size of the standard...

    Help needed about inherited tools

Thanks everyone for such kind words - I will indeed enjoy using all of these tools at some stage - although I'll have quite a steep learning curve to climb for some of them. And a special thank you to you, Alf - you're the best! :D I've downloaded that PDF and I'll have a look if there are...

    Help needed about inherited tools

Hi Alf, You did indeed guess correctly with Rabone - the arch joint one. The square one says 'E. Preston & Sons' along with 'C. Jennings & Co. Bristol Timber Merchants General' and, you'll be pleased to hear, 'Support British Industry' No shims with the #77a... One of the gouges is a Sorby...

    Picture Problems

That's very good of you, Chris. I've just subscribed to UploadIt to sort out my problem, which at £5.99 per year seems quite reasonable for up to 1,000 files of up to 2MB each. NeilCFD

    Help needed about inherited tools

Sorry Alf, the pictures should be back now. I hadn't realised that myimgs.com have such a low bandwidth limit per month - used up in 24 hours in this case! Hardly, Alf!  Your advice is much appreciated. :) Off now to take a pic of the 405. Neil

    Help needed about inherited tools

Thank you, Alf, for your very detailed reply - I'm a little overwhelmed! I'll digest it further after work, and post a couple more pictures. Just a couple of things for now: The gauge has the two mortise pins on the other side, which you can't see in the photo. The wooden spokeshave - I'm...
