    Timber for Children's toys

Love the hippo, Andy :D I went to a toy shop in County Cork a couple of months ago which sold nothing but wooden toys - quite refreshing :) Anyway, I would say 95% of the toys in there were Beech. NeilCFD

Looking for a C.I table saw

I hope you're joking, DW... :? I can't really believe you didn't buy a £1000+ CI tablesaw for want of a £6 show ticket  NeilCFD

    Pressing Compressor questions

Hi Tim, I think (or should I say I'm guessing :? ) that the Venturi-type systems can't achieve as low a pressure, also there may be some limit on bag size. Best person to ask is the forum's resident 'vacuum-bagging master' Steve Maskery :) NeilCFD

    Pressing Compressor questions

Hi Tim, Is this what you were thinking of? http://www.bagpress.com/vacpressequip.html Cheers, NeilCFD

Are you going to enter the TREND ROUTING COMPETITION?

No sleight taken, Neil  I'll just have to French Polish it and then I'll be OK  So I guess I'm entering, either with the router table, or with something more exciting if I have time. NeilCFD

    Wardrobe

Fantastic workmanship, Steve - I think you must have the crown as the forum's veneering master :D NeilCFD

Are you going to enter the TREND ROUTING COMPETITION?

Thats a good idea - would this be eligible, Neil, as I'm making one at the moment? Trouble is, it isn't exactly a small table :? NeilCFD

    Christmas List

Hi Vormulac, I'm afraid Tilgear are stuck in the stone age - you'll have to call them on 01707 873434 for a catalogue. For the T-rules, the price discrepancy isn't so big (it was the ordinary rules I was remembering) Prices: 150mm T-rule - Tilgear £18.80, Axminster £19.63 300mm T-rule -...

    Christmas List

That is a great idea of Adams for the Incra rules - if you like this idea, Tilgear is the place to go for them. IIRC, they are about 2/3 the price of Axminster/Rutlands... Or how about an Incra Guaranteed Square? NeilCFD

    Ordering Direct from Lee Valley

Yeah, it doesn't seem to make sense - still, at least it worked out at a lesser rate rather than a greater one! I had a thought that maybe the figure Pitbull gave was the amount debited to the credit card, which would be converted from dollars using the card company's rip-off rate, whereas...

Saw Sharpening - DIY or send away?

Hi Pete, Try suffixing your searches with '-comparestoreprices -pricerunner -dealtime -kelkoo' - this helps a lot :) NeilCFD

    Ordering Direct from Lee Valley

Don't quite understand that, Andrew. I see how you got the 14.89% figure, but: £354.92 + VAT = 354.92 * 1.175 = 417.03 VAT paid = 417.03 - 354.92 = 62.11 So Pitbull was charged less than 17.5% VAT, surely? Although I've only had one coffee this morning, so I could be wrong...

    Router for router table.

I was going to recommend the Freud to you, but I thought it was too far over budget. It is well thought of on the forum as a table router, and appears to be the cheapest 'professional-level' 1/2" model. See the excellent review here by Mike (& Noely) NeilCFD

    OUCHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeouchhhhh, Signal! My fingers are going numb just thinking about it. Glad to hear that there is no major lasting damage. NeilCFD

Another Project Eats The (Saw) Dust!

Well done, Flash - it looks fantastic :D NeilCFD P.S. Are you trying to justify that Xcalibur purchase or something? You're far too productive at the moment... :P

    Cordless Drill?

Yes, I would find it worrying too - apart from anything else, the battery will be done for in no time, whereas the Metabo batteries have a quoted life of 3000 charges. NeilCFD <edit> I've just remembered where I saw this - a Popular Woodworking review of 12V drills. It has a chart showing...

    Cordless Drill?

Watch out for this, as some of them (e.g. the Blue Bosch models in this £100-ish price bracket) don't have the trickle charge IIRC. NeilCFD (off to charge his mug of coffee...)

    Cordless Drill?

I would thoroughly recommend the Metabo BST12 with the C45 charger (45 minute charge, goes to trickle charge once charged, so cannot overcharge) How many times can I use the word charge in one sentence? NeilCFD

    Advice requested on digital radio/MP3

Andy beat me to it - the Bug seems to have all the features you want, but may fail on asthetic considerations  I found it here - the site may have other options. There is also the Roberts Gemini 1 which has a flash slot, but I'm not sure if it plays back MP3. Definitely has the pause...
