    Forum users' Planers & Thicknessers

We do have a category already - where else would I put Alf's Maxi? I've put your Felder down, but I almost didn't, I'm so damn jealous :P NeilCFD

TREND T5 Competition router table - progress report (long..)

Waka, nothing fancy for the fastening, just (lots of) plastic assembly joints. Re: the Incra, January isn't far away now! Graeme, it is the Incra Ultra-Lite, best deal I found was £141 from Tilgear. I think it is plenty big enough for the router table. How about making a table top that...

TREND T5 Competition router table - progress report (long..)

Wulf, as far as I am aware, the crowning of the insert is designed to compensate for the deflection when a heavy router is hung off it. The Makita is one of the heavier routers around, at 6kg I think, and I must admit I haven't noticed the crowning now that the router is mounted from it. I...

TREND T5 Competition router table - progress report (long..)

Thanks, everyone  Alf, I don't think you have anything to worry about if your music stand & boxes are anything to go by - in fact, I'd say your only worry will be whether your remaining routers will go up in smoke! Re: the top, um, it is a little heavy - I was pretty careful not to...

TREND T5 Competition router table - progress report (long..)

A router table… what on earth is this doing in the competition? Well, I was making one anyway, and not being the most prolific producer of furniture from the workshop I knew that I wouldn’t manage to get a ‘proper’ table made in time. I was going to show my ‘first router table’ efforts to the...

    *** TREND *** Routing Competition - PRIZE - TREND T5 ROUTER.

Yep, I'm still feeling daft enough to enter my router table  I think I've done enough to justify a progress report, so I'll try to get it written up this week. NeilCFD

Delta 25 piece sanding drum set

Hi Waka, Its a combined drilling and drum sanding table, so the runners are for the moveable fence I use when drilling: Its a brilliant system, it transforms the drill press into a much more useful tool for woodworking :) NeilCFD

    Pointless post , I know

Wow, Alf, you really do have renewed enthusiasm for the workshop! This isn't something to do with justifying the purchase of those LN chisels, is it? :P  NeilCFD

Xmas presents - come on, what're you getting?

Great idea, Steve :) Yeay! Move this to the top of the list, Tony - as someone with an engineering background, you won't regret it! Tilgear is cheapest for the Ultra-Lite, £141 IIRC. Metric racks are $6 + carriage, direct from Incra. I don't think I'll be getting much - maybe an LN 102...

Online bookstore with next day delivery?

Sorry gidon... I didn't reply because the delivery to me in Ireland takes days from all of the booksellers! Have you tried BookBrain? I usually use this to find the best deals - in terms of the sellers on there, I've ordered from Amazon (obviously...), WHSmith, Countrybookstore & Blackwells -...

    EZ Smart Guide System

Well, I was going to say, if you don't have a good saw already, the Festool looks better value to me (well I would say that, wouldn't I  ) than the ez-guide + Hitachi. But if the B&D is cutting well for you, maybe it would be worth getting the guide? I don't know... it would be awful...

    EZ Smart Guide System

You mean, like £95 which is what the dollar price converts to? I think it looks worth it - it would transform your saw into a completely different tool, and would be great for the router too. Am I remembering correctly that you bought a nice Hitachi CS, or am I thinking of someone...

    EZ Smart Guide System

Looks good, Pete :D - I still prefer the Festool system because the edge of the guide rail still lines up exactly with the cut when you have the saw tilted at an angle, which this system inherently couldn't do, but it looks like a good option if you already have a good CS. Is that price for...

How do you get away with it?

My wife is as understanding as CYC's and Big John's. I came in from the workshop a few weeks ago, turning the air blue with my cursing of my cheap circular saw having spent what seemed like hours battling to get a few pieces of MDF cut to size. 'Why don't you just order that Festool saw you've...
