    Hand Plane Cabinet

Philly, I've been drooling over this one goinf for £100 - I'm tempted, but I have a nagging suspicion that my money would be better spent on a pair of Veritas shaves. Yours looks a bargain for £60! Neil

    Hand Plane Cabinet

Very, very nice, Philly - and the cabinet isn't bad either! :P I'm very jealous of your Compass plane  Neil

    Veritas variable scraper Burnisher

Snapped a (cheap) router bit the other day  - at least it means I now have a 1/2" shaft to make a Bob Smalser burnisher with. The question is, what angle should I set the bit at? In the article, Bob uses a 15 degree angle, but Chris has said here that a 15 degree burr is way too much...

Mail order shopping - recent experiences

I placed my first ever order with Rutlands last Sunday (9th) - delivery was supposed to be £20 to Ireland, on completing the order I noticed that I had been charged £25. Sent off a quick email asking about it, and got a very nice ( and quick) response back saying that I had been overcharged...

    Router table top idea

I know, Alf, but there is something about your reviews - the camera pointed at the bit you want to see, the friendly-to-dial-up image size, the incisive comments, the humour... have I flattered you enough yet? NeilCFD

    Router table top idea

Fair enough, Alf - I'll play along with your little game for a while... :P The XX is around £50 I think(?), I don't know how much the RR is. BTW, I forgot to add the NVR switch to the list - another £25. I'd just like to say here that I'm not one of the rodent killers on the forum - I've...

    Router table top idea

I think you're just trying to gather ammunition for the Woodrat debate, Alf  FWIW, materials for my competition router table were about £40. The insert plate was £20-ish I think, Incra was £141. If you are gunning for the non-Ratters, I think maybe you should leave the Router Raizer &...

    Drawing programs

Good news, John - the only thing which would worry me is what they would chop out of the cheap version, as I find it fairly limited already! Unfortunately, yes! I had to use PAFEC up until two years ago! NeilCFD

    Native woods in Northern Ireland

Hi Gareth, welcome to the forum :) Re: native hardwoods (Noely, you might find this of interest too) - If you are prepared to venture down south, thanks to forum member CYC I've just come across this site http://www.irishwoods.com - it is quite a small venture at the moment with very low...

    Mule Chest

Damn! I knew I should have edited that photo a bit  No, the efelump must have been my sister's, although I have to admit that the little hedgehog beside it looks familiar  Mothers and the things they keep, eh? Neil

    Mule Chest

Unfortunately I only inherited the tools, Dave, not the skills to go with them! There are a few (power) tools on my wishlist before I attempt one of these  This is my problem too - judging by my productivity with power tools, if I attempted this without them I would be lucky to complete...

    Mule Chest

Hi everyone, Some of you (i.e. Alf :P) may remember that a while ago, I posted pics of some hand tools I had inherited. The original owner of the tools (not the person I inherited them from) was quite a keen woodworker, and my Mum has a few pieces he made. I thought some of you might like to...
