    Help in Ireland needed

Hi Terry, The best I can come up with is the contact details for a guy who imports & sells a lot of woodturning stuff, and is a Jet dealer - at least he might know of a suitable distributor. I'd better not post his details directly, though - PM on its way... Cheers, Neil

    What annoys you about Norm?

Yeah, I almost fell off the sofa when the Japanese saw came out! I missed the dining table - must have been Monday? Wanted to see that one :( I noticed that he is sporting a new power tool which you'll have to add to your purchase list immediately, Philly :P - a hand-held oscillating...

    Incra

Hi Waka, Mine is 20" from the centre of the bit to the back edge of the table top - I think this is the recommended distance in the manual. I'm sure you could add a bit to the back of the Jessem top, or if it is sufficiently long, spin it through 90 degrees if you see what I mean Cheers, Neil

    Incra

Waka, Suggested dimensions in the manual for the Ultra-Lite are 32" (depth) x 24" (length). I made my table longer as I added a longer fence for jointing, so IIRC it came out roughly 32x32" square. The manual is here if you want to check it before purchasing. Shame you missed the Rutlands...

Can you guess what it is?

A fishing rod support thingy? Neil

    Router table insert

Absolutely fantastic, Tony :D - I would love one of these for my table! I think I could cope with making the insert from two pieces of 4mm sheet as you suggest, but I wouldn't have a hope of making the inserts  - Do you think I could make them using the same 4mm sheet and a...

    Which Bandsaw..??

I think you might struggle to find one of them, Midnight!  Neil

    HP LaserJet 6L sick

£50! Nice one, Noely. I really like Samsung lasers - as I said, the Tally is a rebadged Samsung. I ordered the Tally today - not too worried about the toner as the cost per page is a lot less than the HP was - more importantly, its not me paying for it anyway! Get those invoices...

In With the New, Out With the Old

Thats the one I was thinking of - thanks, CYC :) Shouldn't be too hard to knock up something similar... John, I almost got the squeezy-clamps instead of the screw-type ones - they look good I think, especially for you as you're working with so much sheet material. About the same price as a...

In With the New, Out With the Old

Hi Waka, I bought the plunge saw recently too, and I agree completely with your glowing report! As Chris (Waterhead) said in his review, it really is a miracle. The quality of cut is unbelievable, and the ease of use is amazing. I only have a yucky shop vac at the moment, but even with this...

    HP LaserJet 6L sick

Do you have anywhere local you can get a good deal, Noely? I'm sure another HP would be fine, but I've vowed not to get another one where the paper supply is vertical, if you see what I mean. If you want me to check reviews for any particular models in PCPro, let me know. Cheers, Neil

    HP LaserJet 6L sick

Hi Noely, This Tally gets a Recommended award from PCPro, and that was at full price. Review is here if you're interested (you may need to subscribe to view it) The Tally cartridge cost doesn't look so bad if you consider it is rated at 6000 pages - the 6L ones are only 2500 pages I think...

    HP LaserJet 6L sick

You're more than welcome to it. In the meantime, if you want to have a go at fixing yours, this might work. Get a screen wipe, and give the little grey rubber cam which picks up the paper a good clean (see pic) Then, rotate it until you have the most outer part of the cam accessible, and try...

    HP LaserJet 6L sick

You can have my 6L in about a week if you like, Noely - its about to go in the bin! Mine has a tendency to pull through about 10 sheets of paper at once when the paper supply gets a bit low - its fine if there are more than 50-ish sheets in the feeder, but I forget to keep it topped up :oops...

Three legged stool in Ash and Walnut

Very nice, Adam, and a nice gloat too! Ho Ho Ho, and didn't he look uncomfortable using all those hand tools  - I haven't enjoyed an episode of Norm so much in ages. I might have to send the tape to Alf so she can have a chuckle... Neil

    Hand Plane Cabinet

How about making them - a little L-shaped section like this perhaps: I'm sure you've got some nice offcuts of Purpleheart or something... Neil

Mail order shopping - recent experiences

Me too   - rather more tempting than Axminster's 'sale' this year (unless you want Perform stuff) Neil

    Hand Plane Cabinet

Thanks, Alf - it was the Stanley #20/Record #020 type (like that blasted Philly's  ) that I was really after, but I am tempted... :? Now, just hang on whilst I PM Alf to ask for some advice about what to offer... oh, damn! I'll have a think tonight and PM you tomorrow...

    Hand Plane Cabinet

No real reason, I've just wanted one since I was little. Must be my repressed wooden boatbuilding side coming out :D Neil <edit> I do like to make curvy stuff too, so its not completely off-the-wall.
