Would you prefer to pay a forum sub....

Yep, all Roger has to do is to get a nice shiny PC to replace his Mac and then he'll have no problems  Cheers, Neil

Bosch Palm Sander - £34.94 this week

Axminster have the Bosch GSS 140A Palm Sander with £25 off in the latest email club newsletter. I paid £50 for one just over a year ago and I'm delighted with it - thoroughly recommended and at the sale price its a real bargain. Cheers, Neil

    Biscuit joints - beginners question

Going off the exploded parts diagram, it looks to me as though this is where you need to make the adjustment - just back the screw out by 2.3mm and then re-lock. Cheers, Neil

Competition WIP entry: My extension joinery

Does the panelling start at worktop height, Jake? Can't spot the 'biggest' error - no virtual pint for me.

Competition WIP entry: My extension joinery

My arms are aching just reading about it all, Jake. After all that surface prep, you were incredibly brave trying the Fuji out for the first time. I would have done the same, though, with one slight difference - my Fuji is actually SWMBOs so I would have got her to do it! Cheers, Neil

Competition WIP entry: My extension joinery

Very, very impressive, Jake =D>. Was this (the 3mm veneers) your justification for the Startrite? Cheers, Neil

    Rutland Clearance

I guess so. I wonder if you could run a vacuum bag off it.

    Rutland Clearance

Surprised to see the Vac Sys reduced on there - its not being upgraded already, is it? I don't see how Rutlands could be reducing it otherwise, though. Festool CT33 is a good deal, as are the Freud blades. Cheers, Neil

    Rare plane on ebay

Wow, I've got one of those! I never knew it was so valuable  I'll be watching this auction closely - maybe this is my ticket to a new bandsaw... Cheers, Neil

    dowel joint or biscuit joint?

If you go down the biscuit jointer route, it might be worth looking at the AEG rather than something like the Clarke: http://www.dm-tools.co.uk/product.php/section/7705/sn/AEGLF650 It has the nice Mafell-style depth turret (and a 3 year warranty I think?), and looks a bargain for £135 from DM or...

Solutions for securing phone to bike?!

Hi Gidon, When I'm sailing, my mobile goes in an Aquapac - this would give you a version of your bag that is easier to get the phone in and out of, and it has the added advantage of being fully waterproof. Unfortunately sailing makes woodworking look like a cheap hobby  although I'm sure...

Glad to hear it, Gidon. Now I just need an excuse to get one... Cheers, Neil

    new stanley premium planes

That link brings back bad memories from my degree course, Jake - in fact I'm sure I had to reproduce the Iron-cementite equilibrium diagram in an exam #-o Don't ask me to explain it, though. It was one of those courses where you commit the stuff to memory for just long enough to get through...

Please recommend a hand held power planer?

No, thats one Festool purchase that I would have a big problem justifying - its three times the price! Surely it can't make that much of a difference - its a fairly crude tool after all... Yes, let us know how you get on & how Charles Direct are to deal with - I've never heard of them before...

Please recommend a hand held power planer?

Fantastic price, Gidon. Makes me want one myself... Cheers, Neil

Please recommend a hand held power planer?

Better get the Festool then  Very strange that this discount appears to be applied randomly. Might still be worth it just for the extra blades, but I'm guessing that you could find a better use for it! I'm going to get the Veritas flat-bottomed shave at long last - not much of a saving...

Please recommend a hand held power planer?

Yes, you're right - I missed the 1902. Thats the one that my joiner used. I would take the Bosch over this one for the reasons you mentioned. There is a 10% off offer on at the moment - I haven't had the email either but when I go through the online ordering there is a box to tick on the...

Please recommend a hand held power planer?

Looks good to me at that price, Gidon. I had a joiner out yesterday fitting a new back door (yes, the one that we were chatting about years ago  ) and he had a Makita which was very nice, but I see that the new version is a lot more expensive than the Bosch. I've developed a slight...
