Thanks Jim and Misterfish, not sure I'm any nearer to choosing now, but at least I've got something to work on now.

    RAS advice needed please

Yes it is nice Jim, but it's also in Cambridge and I need something in the north of England. I actually live in France now, but have family and friends in the north who could collect locally. I could have it courried but then we are going over my budget. There is a 300 version of the Eumania on...

    RAS advice needed please

Hi I'm thinking about buying my first RAS and want one that will take a dado. I only have a small budget, so at the moment I'm looking at second hand DEWALT DW110 and Eumenia M50L 300. Will either of these take a dado blade and of the two which would you chose? Thanks in advance Froggy.

Eumenia Radial Arm Saw for Sale

I'm looking for a RAS at the moment and noticed a 300 for sale on eBay. I'd love to buy it but live in France now and rarely bob back to the UK now and delivery charges make it too expensive. But good luck with it. Froggy.

Hi Liam, As I've never bought one before I'm not sure of there value, but I've just being on eBay and they have 3 sets, 2 @ £60 and one in a fancy case for £80. Can you give me a bit more info on yours eg size of blades how many seperators, range of cut width etc.? Has it been used, if so does...

    Router Problem

Erm... I don't like to contradict Titman, but the answer here wasn't anything to do with the collet or bit size in the end. Although, I now agree, having been enlightened by the experts, that even 0.35mm makes a difference, my problem turned out to be caused because I wasn't snapping the collet...

    Router Problem

iYou may notice that my last post seems to start mid sentence! Somehow I deleted the first part of my post. Which was to Jason.. I was undoing the collet nut as you said with 2 goes with the spanner but still the collet and bit were sticking. I did have to use the spanner twice even though I...

    Router Problem

undoing what you said about the collet is exactly what I was doing, but what I wasn't doing was snapping the collet in to the nut to start with. I have just tried it and for the first time since I bought the router I have managed to fit and remove the collet without any force at all :D :D...

    Router Problem

You might be new to this Kevin but I think you solved the problem. I am not clicking the collet in to the collet nut!! Thanks for the links, that's made my day...I'm easily pleased  Froggy

    Router Problem

Hi again, I checked the router manual (bought in the UK not France) and it is indeed imperial. I also checked the router bits and they are also imperial. So, more by luck than management, I am using the right bits and collets. The problem is obviously something else. I checked the collets for...

    Router Problem

Well I think my first job tomorrow is to measure and mark all my router bits and collets. At the moment they're in 1/2" and 1/4" boxes, and as I had some of them given and just looked at them to decide which box they went in... One thing (well..one other thing!) I don't understand is that Bob...

    Router Problem

Not sure about that, but things are a bit clearer now I know there are 6mm and 6.35mm and 12mm and 12.7mm bits. Please excuse my ignorance. As is obvious, I'm fairly new to woodworking. Froggy.

    Router Problem

That's exactly how I am undoing the collet. Thanks Jason

    Router Problem

Now I'm getting confused. I thought the problem was that I was using 6mm bits in 1/4" collet, but now you're saying I should use 6mm bits in a 1/4" collet. You're actually saying 6.35mm but I didn't measure that accurately and if there is a difference between 1/4" and 6.35mm then the bit size in...

    Router Problem

It's funny 2 of you mention Elu because it is a DeWalt (I forget the exact make, but it's the one just over £200). Bob is however right. I have just measured the bit in the 1/4" collet that is in the router at the moment and it is in fact 6mm  And the bits I put in my 1/2" collet are 12mm...
