    Plunge Saws

Hi All, I'm looking for a plunge saw but can't afford the top brands, but I have been looking at these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SCHEPPACH-WOO ... 484292f727 and wondered if anyone could give me any feedback on them? TIA Froggy.

    Go on have a Guess!!

Exactly what I was going to say. My most recent Axy purchase was a pillar drill and came in 2 boxes (and is white  ); however the weight worries me as I don't think mine (the radial arm drill) was quite that heavy.

    Behold, the Speed Tenon...

I tried this today for the first time and I was suprised how good a tenon it turned out (very clean and acurate). I didn't feel that it was particularly unsafe either. However I do agree with Kirk in that it is probably ok for a small number of tenons but a jig would be better for a large number...

It was in the chaps way and he just wanted rid of it so he can covert the guilding it was stored in. He still has about 2m3 of a mix of oak, chestnut and more cherry, but at the moment I can't justify spending more than I already have on wood I don't have a specific use for yet. The chap is on a...

Just to extend this thread rather than start a new one - I picked up this lot this weekend: 0.75m3 of dried cherry and about 100 template/jigs and a few other bits for a total of €200 :D

    stage fright

Simon I 've seen some of your (some of it first hand) and would love to have the skills you have. So I can't understand the lack of confidence. Perhaps you're just trying to talk yourself into the change of direction you talked about. Go for it, or it will nag at you until you do.

    How much for ply templates?

Hi Mark, I'm not sure how well known he was and not all the templates are ply (not sure what some of them are). That's a figure I had in mind €1 per piece, but as I've never bought anything like this before I didn't know if I was way off the mark or not. Thanks for reply.

    How much for ply templates?

Hi All, Today I went to buy some wood from a man who bought a house from a cabinet makers son (the cabinet maker unfortunately died). I was like a kid in sweet shop and one of the things I was interested in was a selection of ply templates for cabriole legs etc. There were about 50/60...

I'm the same. I have a large barn (or 3 ) and am filling up with wood. I'm going to look at some more for sale this afternoon - oak, chestnut and cherry. Apparantly it's high grade, air dried 5 years and he wants around €400/m3. Can't wait!!

    Chain saw problem

Hi, I have a Stihl MS 170 and have a problem with the oil. It's not using any. I normally top up the oil about as often as I fill it with petrol but recently noticed it wasn't using any. So I took it apart and it is as dry as a bone. I assume there is a blockage somewhere. Does anyone know how I...

    Hemlock

I bought a job lot of Hemlock from a door manufaturers that went bust 3/4 years ago. It came from Canada where it's used not only for doors but suprisingly for floors as an alternative to oak. I say suprisingly because it is not very dense and hates water!

Buying UK machinery for Euro delivery, Not Axi

Hi John, I'm about 4-4 1/2 hours north of you in Chateauponsac 87290. I'll do what you suggest and change my profile. I set up a 'club' recently (which is dying a death at the moment!) of expat woodworker with the idea of talking to each other and helping each other out where possible. I think...
