    Wealden's guide bearings

I've had three guide bearings collapse in the last couple of months, all from Wealden's and none of them used that heavily :? . Do guide bearings generally fall to bits this easily? Has anyone else had this problem? Or have I just had an unluckly run?

    In the groove?

Hi Roy, No I don't have access to a lathe with a rim chuck unfortnately. Chems, I'm really sorry but I can't follow what you're saying despite reading it over and over again! I think it's similar to Andy's first option, but I just can't follow what you're saying. Andy, I have a Stanley 71 and...

    In the groove?

Hi Chems, Having thought about it last night I came to the same conclusion. But the main reason I went for that method was that I have no attachment for the router to make circles and because I don't understand how that can work, if there is a lump of wood in the middle of the board surely this...

To float, or not to float?

About 3 years ago I laid a parquet floor with a flexible glue (can't remember now what it was called) to a tiled floor in my kitchen. So far there has been no movement that I've noticed and none of the wood has cracked. But the parquet blocks were only small ( about 12-14 inch by 2") and quite...

To float, or not to float?

Hi NH Sorry I can't answer your question, but I have a question? What do you use to stick oak flooring to concrete? By the way I laughed a lot at the 'floor/door' thread. (homer)

Finish for wooden door sill plate ?

Hi Rob, I'm glad you did reply to your own thread because I am just about to put a PU finish on an oak garden bench I made. I have tried oil (and lots of it!!) on the bench but it just doesn't protect it from the elements. If oil is no good (which it isn't) and I can't use PU varnish what are my...

Looking for some advice on rustic furniture making please!

Welcome to the forum Daymo, When ever I am thinking about buying a new tool I scan through the 'buying advice' section and usually find large debates on which tool is best. By the time I'm finished I usually know which one I'm going to. HTH Froggy.
