I can't help you with the graphite blocks, but just recently I saw a chap somewhere who used hard wood blocks in place of the graphite. Might be worth a try?

Normally I would say restore - I like what you do with these old machines, but this one looks beautiful as is. Leave it be.

As I've only ever worked with Cherry, Oak, Chestnut and Pine (all ready available and relatively inexpensive) I would have to say Cherry. But I change my mind alot and at any point in time it could easily be one of the others.

Hi everyone, I have a friend who has a coronet major lathe with, amoung other things, a planer attachment. He needs some new blades for it but we can find a supplie anywhere. Does anyone have any idea where we could get some please? I believe they are 4" slotted blades. Thanks Froggy.
