    Hornbeam

That's what I thought Rod. I've only ever heard it used for handles and other small objects.

    Hornbeam

Hi Everyone, I'm going to an auction soon and among the lots is a parcel of wood which includes Hornbeam. I've come across this wood before. Does anyone have any experience of it? What would you use for? Any info might be useful before I go spending money on it. What it the cost like compared to...

    Spare part for Kity 1637

Well I fitted the best of the two pulleys from Coley today along with my brand new shaft and got my PT running again. I put a piece of Oak through the thicknesser twice with no trouble and just as I started to smile to myself I heard a clunk! I switched off quickly and was surprised to find...

    Spare part for Kity 1637

Thanks Al, Dick and Lons. Bearing in mind I will have 3 pulleys soon I can experiment on at least two of them. A lot of what you have said above I have already discussed with a friend who is more knowledgeable than I, unfortunately he's not a welder, but I do know another chap in the next...

    Spare part for Kity 1637

Al a friend of mine suggested something similar but it is beyond my capabilities and I don't have the tools. He reckons it's £200-£300 worth of work for a tool maker/engineer. Which is a bit steep and why I went in search of an alternative. If Coley's pulley's are too worn I may have to go down...

    Spare part for Kity 1637

Thanks for the belts, that's great. I appreciate the offer of the blades but I probably have enough to see this planer out! But I wouldn't mind the poly carbon cog in the second to last picture, bottom right. It looks in better condition than mine and that's the cog that interacts with the...

    Spare part for Kity 1637

Coley the rest of my planer appears to be fine. The only thing I would question is the belt that is on this pulley. It looks too thin for the width of the two pulleys it is attached to and I wondered if it was the wrong size belt? It is 6mm wide and 2mm thick and as best I can measure about...

    Spare part for Kity 1637

Hi Beech, I don't really know but think it might be mild steel case hardened. Do you know anyone who can repair them? I have enquired over here (France) but got nowhere so far. Cheers, Froggy

    Spare part for Kity 1637

That's very kind of you Coley. The shaft diameter is 12mm which corresponds to the one on the right with the bushes, however my pulley has 3 holes not 4 and I'm sure the one on the left is same as mine, but if the one on the right already has the bushes and is the right size that would be fine...

    Spare part for Kity 1637

Hi again Coley, I have enlarged the pics and seen more clearly the teeth and they are definitely better than mine! Could you measure the diameter of the hole for the shaft on both pulleys please? Sorry to put you to this trouble mate.

    Spare part for Kity 1637

Hi Coley, The one on the left looks like mine, and mine is 180mm diameter. Having said that the one on the right has he bushings in that mine had and the one on the left doesn't. The teeth on mine are damaged too and I think that's what caused the pulley to wobble which in turn caused the...

    Spare part for Kity 1637

It's a Kity 1637 Coley, but I believe it's the same size pulley on the 1647 and a couple of other models.

    Spare part for Kity 1637

Hi All, I'm looking for a this pulley http://www.probois-machinoutils.com/en/ ... hings.html for my Kity PT. I can't get one anywhere. The company who are advertising this say they can no longer supply them either. Does anyone know where I might be able to get one please? I know the whole Kity...

Going to attempt a Greg Klassen style coffee table

F=Gm1+m2/r2 Well that's simple enough and I know a glass man. So might have a go at that myself.
