    European Oak Serving Tray

With all the money you're saving for your next planer, you could easily afford to buy a proper camera so you don't keep losing those photos on your phone!! :D  Interesting. I'll be making one of these in the coming weeks and it'll also have sloped or 'canted' sides; all four of them...

Happy birthday Alf & Lord Nibbo

Happy Birthday to you all!! :occasion4: (...My turn tomorrow! :D)

    Cutting 8 x 4 sheets

You got yours already??? :( They also got a mention in Good Woodworking - apparently available from Woodworkers Workshop... Though, at over £400 for the basic unit (without cramps and accessories), it still isn't cheap.

    Google street view intrusion?

I agree with Tom, as I regularly find that, while punching in a post code will get you on the right road, it doesn't always pin-point you to the correct building. For example, my post code (even my house number) points you to a totally different house further down the road! At least, with Street...

    Felder sale

In case any of you guys are still interested in the N4400 bandsaw, there's a guy in Cambridgeshire selling one - click here.

    Rip-cut and Cross-cut saw blades

But surely, if you scribe your shoulder lines then, using a rip-toothed saw to cut across the grain isn't an issue?

    Wadkin C7 Bandsaw

If you mean that it tilt to the 'front' and 'back' of the saw then, yes, this is normal, assuming it doesn't do this when the blade is properly tensioned. :) Sorry, can't help you with your tyre problem.

Are those stainless steel hinges? I think that works rather well. :)

    Sprayed MDF Storage units.

In the new issue of Good Woodworking magazine, Andy King makes a dead simple spray booth that could be set up outdoors and easily dismantled. I'm sure Steve Maskery also did something similar, a few years ago.

Nice work. It does look comfortable. :)

A Guide to Building your own Bench for Noobies?

That book by Chris Schwarz does look very good. I own the one from Scott Landis and would highly recommend it. In fact, if you can afford to buy two books, make sure it is these two! I also had a WIP on my workbench build last summer, right here, on my old blog... But, that part of UKW...

    New SCMS

You're right that it's a single-car garage, Pete. Except, mine's 5.4m x 3m where as, your space looks slightly wider and less rectangular...? If I really wanted one, yes, I could clear some space and fit one in somewhere. But the chore of having to drag it out and away from a wall would drive me...

    Sharpening system

Hi Aled, Well, I did buy some dirt-cheap Silverline ones (red, aluminium oxide) from Amazon. They're fine for the old, thinner steel and most chisels (although they do seem to spark a bit more) but, with modern A2, O1 etc., I find they lose their edge too quickly. So, I'm still looking for the...

    Swivelling Captain's chair finished

I really like the way the arms flow through the back support of the chair. I think that my next chair design will definitely feature something similar!

    New SCMS

Well, if you don't have the space for a half-decent table saw with a sliding table then, for me, a sliding compound mitre saw is the next big thing. Quite often, I work with large lumps of wood where it's easier to keep that still and move the tool to make the cut. You could, of course, use a...

The problem with short cuts, was Planing stop for thin stock

I like the idea although, I do agree that the stop may be better if it was slightly thicker. If you didn't want to use a square you could easily knock something up from scrap wood in ten-minutes. All you need is a bandsaw or thicknesser to cut something thin enough. ...Might give it a go...

    Projectease

That's a beautiful piece of work! You've done very well to keep the grain continuous through the drawers and I do like those curved tapers on the legs as well. :)

    Sharpening system

Yep, wot they said! :D The only negative I have against the Work Sharp 3000 (three-months on) is that the supplied discs (120g and above) aren't coarse enough for heavy grinding. You can buy £20 packs from Rutlands with an extra glass disc or, make a new disc from MDF and buy self-adhesive...

    New SCMS

Hitachi stuff is generally very well made. The Japanese tend to prefer Hitachi kit as the motors are sourced from their home land, where as (apparently), motors in Makita's tools come from China. :D I bought a second-hand LS1013 not long ago and I'm very pleased with it. Dust extraction is crap...
