    scheppach 2600I

Not sure how easy it is to adjust these machines but, first thing I would do is to lift both beds back up and make sure there isn't any sawdust or chips stuck between any mating surfaces - that's a common problem with planer/thicknessers.

    Schwarz/Nicholson/Byron Workbench Build

Some circular saws not have a 'channel' running the length of the base (usually near the left-hand edge) which allows them to run over a guide on certain jigs, which prevents the saw from wondering. This as opposed to having a raised edge against which the edge of the base must reference. You've...

    My First Shed

Far too nice for a garden shed! :D I hope she treats it with the respect it deserves. Very well done indeed.

    filler

I find that, sometimes, the PVA and sawdust mixture goes horribly wrong and turns black once you put a finish on! I think this is only when you put too much glue in the mix? What is it exactly you are trying to fill?

    Simple clock

I like it. Very interesting and a little different to what you might expect. :)

    Removing Bobbin Sleeves?

I had the same trouble with ones of my bobbins (38mm, I think?) when I first bought mine. As it was new, Brimarc were happy to send me a replacement bobbin. But, I've since realised that it's not that bad - I think the nut on top was too tight, which was causing it to deflect, slightly. In all...

    A question

True. But, that's only because JFC gets banned each time he tries to sneak back in, here!! :D

Workshop Organiser for fixings and fiddly stuff

I agree. The joints would work well but, it's a lot of extra work when you could do it with a biscuit jointer.

    Removing Bobbin Sleeves?

Thanks, Bob. My other thought is to send Axminster a crafty e-mail and see whether you can purchase just the rubber sleeves and then get a steel spindle made up... I doubt it and it would probably be quite expensive, anyway. I guess those Carroll sanders are the only other options then -...

    Making your own Dominos

I was thinking along the same lines as Eric; using Steve's bandsaw jig to crosscut them, rather than a table saw. Simply because I find tasks like this quite repetitive on a table saw - especially when you're using the large fence of a sliding table to cut such tiny little things (also, the kerf...

    Newbie refurbishes a bench

D'oh! Sorry! (Thanks, Mark... :)) Boiled linseed oil should be fine, as long as you allow it to dry before sitting on it. That shouldn't take too long, anyway. If you had bought raw linseed oil however; you'd have to leave a "wet paint" sign on there for several weeks! :D Only thing you...

Record TS200C vs Charnwood W650 vs Jet JTS-600

It's interesting that the NVR switch is on the right - I was watching an old episode of the New Yankee Workshop last night and noticed that, on the saw Norm uses, it's in a similar location - we've also seen him struggle on the odd occasion, where he's wanting to rip a large sheet of ply! :D I...

    Removing Bobbin Sleeves?

Thanks for all the replies. :) I will try both heating and freezing them in time, just in case. Eric, you're quite right - I could just add a false bed so that I'm using the upper portion of the bobbin (in fact, Argee did just this a few years ago ). But, these will still have to come...

    Ash TV table - FINISHED

Yeah, that's one of the things I don't like about Titebond glues - they're very runny! It doesn't usually take much for me to make a complete mess with ordinary PVA, either! If you wanted something with more 'tacky', you could try cascamite, which can be mixed to your desired...

    Newbie refurbishes a bench

Looks like a great improvement. Will you be applying a finish and have you considered fitting wooden plugs to hide the screw heads?

    Making your own Dominos

Good idea. Now all we need is a way to cut the slots without buying the tool!!  If getting the round-over right is tricky, what about just cutting a chamfer, or even make the dominoes 1mm under width? It's unlike to affect the strength of the joint (biscuit slots tend to have...

Yes, please. I could also be interested in a pair, depending on the price.

    Removing Bobbin Sleeves?

Hi guys, Anyone got any tips for removing bobbin sleeves from the Jet JBOS-5 spindles? Bobbins larger than 16mm aren't a problem, where you remove a nut on top of the spindle and the sleeve slides off easily. On the smaller ones though (6mm, 12mm and 16mm), they're held in place with a small...

    I've been busy

Nice work. Is that really oak in the first image? And I guess the coffee table is also of a fairly 'hollow' construction, in all places around the drawer opening?

    Ash TV table - FINISHED

Good progress! :) How did you do the veneering, then - did you press each panel between two MDF sheets? Did you get any breakout cross-cutting the panels on your table saw? With a zero-clearance insert plate, I'd guess not...
