    ENGLAND YOU CAN DO IT

Mike, I quite agree with all of your points. Although, I've always been against the idea of a foreign manager in charge of the England team... It's insulting, really, when we have several English managers (Roy Hodgson and Harry Redknapp to name do) who could do a reasonable job (ie. no...

    Side Table - Finished Photos

Thanks again, guys. Sorry for the lack of response and photographs! I've got a couple of other jobs in the way at the minute that need to be done ASAP so, this one's almost on the back burner, for the minute. woodguy7 - I'm also planning to use some kind of epoxy and I bought some really cheap...

    Stickley Morris Chair - finished

Fantastic! I agree with the other comments on the colour of the upholstery but, I wouldn't know what else to suggest and the flash (?) on your camera may not give an accurate sense of colour? The oak's come out very nicely as well. Anyone can make a comfy upholstered chair... :D Now, try...

    TV Cabinet design

Biscuits are usually best when you want to glue lippings on to the edge of the something. Though, they'll still require a certain amount of time in the cramps (you could use a faster-setting glue to help this). Make the lippings slightly thicker than the MDF so you can plane/sand them flush...

    Small Block Plane

Yes, Pete - that was a rebating (or, perhaps, "rabbeting"! :P) block plane, which has its advantages over a standard block plane but isn't as convenient to use (for the lack of an adjustable mouth). Quangsheng planes are available from Workshop Heaven and they're basically clones of the...

He didn't get booked for that reckless challenge in the first half and got away with another one mid-way through the second half - I think there was a penalty shout against him, as well? Or, was that Upson? Johnson did get booked for a "dive"... Basically, he did what I call the "Gerrard...

    Side Table - Finished Photos

No need to worry about the length of the cramping blocks here, Rob, as the two lippings being cramped were about 5mm wider than the others, where I hadn't yet shaped them. I agree about leaving another pair of cramps on in the other direction though. While Titebond and other fast-acting...

Starting out, which tools to buy, total budget c.£700-1000?

As Steve says; a Work Mate will allow you to do a fair bit if you're only starting out and working to a strict budget. I would immediately look to replace the thin tops though with something like a nice offcut of wooden kitchen worktop - which you may be able to scrounge off your local Freecycle...

    Cylcone Options in the UK?

I noticed the other day that Axminster offer a brief range of cyclone extractors but, they certainly aren't cheap.

Sadly, I believe that's precisely why nothing every gets done to improve this or any other situation (assistance for referees, salary caps, limits on the number of foreign players/quotas for home-grown talent, etc.). These are the kind of topics and events that get people talking about the game...

You heard your contact lens go 'crunch'?! How big are they and what are they made of??? :)

    Small Bread Bin - WIP

It's not about the number of mistakes you make it's how you deal with and overcome them. Nice solution, by the way. Never concede defeat! :) What are your thoughts on the food safe finish, by the way?

    Side Table - Finished Photos

Thanks for all your replies. :) Unfortunately, I've left my camera in the workshop so, I won't have any more photos for you until tomorrow evening. :( First, I decided to trim 6mm off the circumference. For this, I used a bearing-guided rebate cutter, which removed and equal amount of...

    Side Table - Finished Photos

After gluing on the veneers last week, I made a fair bit of progress on the table top this morning. Started by flattening both faces of the top with my belt sander and then trimming and squaring up the veneered-MDF edges by hand. At 324mm square, this was just outside the capacities of my...

I caught the second-half of that Portugal game - Ronaldo almost scored the goal of the tournament, if only it hadn't hit the bar! I didn't think the North Koreans were up to much though, it sounded as though Portugal weren't at their best in the first-half, either. Really looking forward to the...

How do I post sketch up images

On the forum? In SketchUp, put the 'camera' where you want it and go to File > Export 2D Graphic. This image file can then be uploaded to a site like Flickr or Photobucket, for example, and then you can copy the image location from there and post it here. :)

    Chunky TV Table

Very nice and it looks right at home. :) Did you send it by courier then? Even though you'd boxed it, I assumed you were going to delivery it personally?

    Planer Thicknesser

Pete, did you try cutting out the cross/grill from inside the ADE1200's inlet? That's what the rest of us have done. It's there (as it also is on many other HVLP extractors) to prevent large objects (lumps of wood, stone, etc.) from being sucked up and damaging the fan. The downside is...

World Cup - Fans and fanatics thread.

I've always wondered this as well and yet, there were a few times during the qualifiers where we played quite well. When he first took the job, I remember he had an interperater with him almost all the time - it didn't look very professional, to say the least! It's not just the 'language...
