Phew - I made the deadline!

Les, Well done. Just a word of warning though, when the young rebel arrives you probably won't get much chance to use the morticer or sander, trust me I know. Best of luck.

    WARNING...New Credit Card Scam

It's much more fun to give them the wrong info if they ring you, if they're genuine they'll be able to tell you it's wrong, if they're scammers they'll go off feeling chuffed with them selves only to be dissapointed when they try to use your card.

I've been keeping an eye out allright. I came across one used one with a starting bid of £50 but the postage for the UK was £25?? Wouldn't have been much of a bargain in the end. I'll keep an eye out anyway. Thanks

I want to buy a chuck, but at the moment I just don't have £150+ to spare to buy the one I would like due to house furnishing  . Just wondering if anyone out there has one sitting unused in a drawer which they've intended selling but never got around to. I have a record power lathe so...

Great value parts for pen making.

Pens of color specialise in pen turning supplies and is highly recommended on another fourm, I've ordered a mandrel and some pen kits, the mandrel was $17.50 which is a bit of a bargain and again was recommended, you would be lucky to get one as cheap on ebay. Pen kits are also good value...

    Dining Table Footprint?

Yes your right #-o don't know what i was thinking  . The table I have seats 4 people each side. Wizer, You would need 9' X 9' for a 3x4 table which seats 6 as Steve pointed out  which unfortunately you're about 2' too narrow for.

    Dining Table Footprint?

WiZer, To seat 6 people relatively comfortably would need a table 3' X 6' (3 people either side and one at each end) and roughly 3' clearance all the way around which means the dining space would have to be 9' X 12'. My dining table is 7'6" X 3' and it's in a space which is 3M X 4M or 10' X 13'...

    Two Cherries mortice chisels?

Nads, Here's two interesting threads below, seems the sorbys are good but there is a comment about a handle splitting (3rd comment first link), I suspect it was the boxwood type that split: https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/view ... ice+chisel https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/view ...

    Two Cherries mortice chisels?

No expert either, only know that the stronger the chisel is the more wood you can remove quickly. When I do get mortice chisels I'll get ones with a ferrile at the mallet end which is something Robert the "Sorby (boxwood sash) mortice chisels" you mention don't have, have a look at item 284 here...

    Unusual timber at Stake

Use a finish with a UV inhibiter to prevent this from happening. I don't know of any off hand but you can get some yacht varnishes which inhibit UV.

Does this count as a finished project ?

Hi Jason, You got a great looking finish on the outside, what did you do to get it looking so good? I have an Elysian 27 which has really been neglected over the last few years while I was house building.

    Tiling onto MDF

You could tack on some plaster board and tile on to this as normal. Or if you have to tile on to mdf or ply I'd use flexable adhesive, same type used for tiling onto wooden floors, there's a 2 part one where you mix a powder with a liquid which is very good. *Edit: Think the adhesive is made by...

Build or Get Built.... What do you think?

Hope I'm not stating the obvious but you've got three options, From the point of view of someone who's just built his own house I'll outline the advantages and disadvantages of each. Option 1: Get a contractor to do everything, do nothing yourself Advantages: 1. Less stress for you, contractor...
