    Forstner bit and aluminium

Thanks, yes I bought one but had to send it back, it was great. However, I set my MFT holes out so the router was in the middle of two rows rather than in line with a row as needed for the Benchdog plate, I was gutted.

    Forstner bit and aluminium

I'm after a flat bottomed pocket. The intended use for this plate is a mounting plate for my Incra LS positioner onto an MFT base. So it will have 4No 6mm holes in the corners where I will use quad dogs and M6 screws to secure to the MFT bench. The LS positioner will be secured to the alumnium...

    Makers Central - postponed

Was anyone here booked to visit Makers Central in August? Gutted to see that it's postponed again until the April 2022. I've asked for a refund as it's too far away to commit to but they said they can only give a refund once a show has gone ahead. Doubly disappointed they have taken this...

    Forstner bit and aluminium

I want to use a forstner bit on a 10mm aluminium plate. Is it OK to do? I once used a mitre saw blade to cut a thin strip of aluminium but the blade got knackered. Since bought a blade suited for aluminium. I can't find such a comparison in terms of forstner bits.

Terms and Conditions for buying car tyres

Within reason a tyre is just a tyre IMO, don't get sucked into all the marketing to make you think you need a certain type of tyre. I have got punctures fixed in the past they just must be in the centre of tyre not near on wall. I never buy the unbranded one but the mid-range and I never take...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Evening, latest commission for Mrs Starlingwood. Shoe rack made out of ash, half lap joints and through tenons finished in Osmo polyx. Fiddly little job but pleased with final result considering, some of the joints could be tighter. Nice to be making stuff now my workbench is built.

    My chiselling accident...

I went into my thigh a couple of months ago with a mortise chisel. I was kneeling on the floor as I was building a workbench so had no workbench. Needed stitches! All healed now just a scar.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Ha yes indeed, we were stuck in traffic once so the driver left the shopping under the porch along with about 5 or 6 of the crates! They are very sturdy and have come in good use over the years. In fact I might need to miss our slot again soon with all the offcuts im creating.

Reasonable time to carry out remedial repair - opinions needed

We had some blown bricks on a porch wall that they patched up, colour matched then sealed. The patching up blew over the winter so back to where we started. This is a company that only do remedial work, they specialise in it and brick tiniting etc. One guy was here last summer and it took...

Reasonable time to carry out remedial repair - opinions needed

I had someone out to do some remedial repair work to some brickwork last year. The repair work did not last the winter and I have had them back out to look at it and they agree it was poor workmanship on their behalf and will rectify accordingly by doing it differently. The problem I have now is...

I blame YouTube, how many more Americanisms are we going to have to suffer ?

I don't like the Americanisms either, never had. Not sure why maybe a streak of nationalism dislike of bastardisation or something. My little ones everyone and again come out with garbage truck and couch every now again and I have to correct them.

    Dust extraction choices

I'm going to be selling my AC153E probably by end of next week if you're interested. I bought it as a temp extractor as the one i want was on backorder but finally arrives this week. Its only weeks old and I've probably had 3 bags worth sucked through it. It's too large and powerful for my...
