    MFT - wossit all about?

I dont understand. Why does the panel saw need a scribing blade and the MFT doesn't to achieve the same finish? I have always been under the impression a scribing blade produced cleaner cuts where laminate was involved.

    Diamond sharpening, buying advice !

I hate sharpening. I use an Atoma, very flat, but only to flatten my waterstones. My big black DMT is no where near flat and I can't believe how long it took me to realise that was why it was taking me so long to sharpen. If I had the money I would definitely try some Naniwa diamond stones, for...

    Screwdrivers.

I have fairly full sets of PB Swiss swissgrip and Wiha soft touch. For bigger screws I will always reach for the Wiha, I find them most comfortable to hold. If Im hanging a door I will invariably go for my old Yankee.

    Found Dowelmax Jig

The Jessem jig is also quite good. Mine was greatly reduced in Germany, they obviously weren't selling the imperial version very often.

    bandsaw blades

Yes, I can buy bandsaw blades in Italy but on the whole, there is no market here for specialised items in small quantities. Even the shops selling the blades don't really understand the materials and the geometry. They'll quite happily sell you a blade designed with teeth for metal even if...

    bandsaw blades

I'm in Italy, similar thing, but paying VAT twice and 18 euro handling fee really brings the price up.

    Bench Drill Advice

It's the same here in Italy. Prices asked for old tools are astronomical.

FedEx - the most spectacularly incompetent carrier of them all !

UPS are positively the worst for me. I've been waiting for a delivery from Germany since early last week. Driver doesn't reply to messages, new excuse in tracking every day. Not in, incorrect address, etc. etc. Birkenstock simply don't believe me. I try very hard not to use UPS unless there is...

    Wanted Decent quality splitting axes

I too find the Fiskars axes excellent, virtually effortless.

    Drill Stand Advice Please

The Wabeco, though expensive, looks far better quality than my Scheppach fixed machine.

    Furniture philistine

I think a lot of people either wouldn't notice how rough it looked or even think it was part of the "look". If it means a piece gets recycled that has to be a good thing.

    Furniture philistine

If bead blasting unsaleable furniture makes it saleable and hence it doesn't go to landfill, isn't that a good thing?

    Lime mortar

All of the premixed lime mortars you buy in Italy are so easy to use compared to fat lime mortars and mixing your own mortar using hydraulic lime and sand that I'm sure they mustadd all sorts of additives to them.

Advice on Ebay, PayPal and collection

I have nearly 2000 feedback on two accounts selling but mostly buying, in UK, Ireland and Italy. The market in Italy is totally different but I have still had relatively few problems and can't really say I have lost out. I think people overreact to the slightest thing, I have never been scammed...

    Double Glazing or not?

I seem to remember Historic Scotland looking at properly maintained timber versus PVC and I think the timber came out better. I don't think they looked at single over double-glazed. Back in the 90's I discovered that in Japan they were manufacturing a sealed unit that was I believe less than...

    Do biscuits add strength? Solved!

I have used biscuits in architraves around doors for years now and not a single one that I know of has opened up.
